My first Fake Tan, I need some help.

Hey Beauties,

On the Friday, I ordered Sukin Sunless Bronzing Gel from the beautorium and it’s going to be my first fake tan. Do you beauties have any tips or tricks or have any experience on apply a fake tan. Is there a check list of steps that I need to do before applying a fake tan? What is the best way to maintain fake tan for a couple of days to a week and what’s the best way to remove hair from your legs before a fake tan?

I read the article on Monday did help but only a little but want to know more and I am going to apply my fake tan at home. (http://www.beautyheaven.com.au/make-up/first-time-getting-a-spray-tan-13950)

This will be my first time applying a fake tan and I am not quite sure what to do.

The only two things that I know about fake tanning and fake tan products. St Tropez Applicator Mitt is a great mitt to use when applying fake tan (http://www.beautyheaven.com.au/body-health/spray-tan-fake-tan/26455-st-tropez-applicator-mitt) and it best to exfoliate your skin before a fake tan.

There the link of Sukin Sunless Bronzing Gel, the product that I am going to use. (http://www.beautyheaven.com.au/body-health/spray-tan-fake-tan/35686-sukin-sunless-bronzing-gel)

I can’t wait to read to your comments. Thanks for all the help and can’t see what you say about this topic.

My advice doll is: Go to a professional. I used to self tan all the time and I could never get it perfect! I always was a little bit uneven or I had orange hands. And I couldn’t find a solution that was brown enough. It always gave off an orange glow. I decided to give getting a Spray Tan a go. I finally found someone who was AMAZING! The colour was even and looked so natural while being such a lovely bronze colour. Def’s the best tanning decision I made. If you live in Brisbane or Goldcoast I can give you her number if you want. If you do decide to give it a go yourself then, exfoliate, moisturise! And make sure its all even. Xx

Exfoliate to get rid of the dead skin cells floating on top of your skin OTHER WISE IT WILL BE BLOTCHY. Focus exfoliating on your chest, knees, behind your knees, inside of your elbow and your elbow. Get someone to tan your back so its even. Moisturise regularly so your tan stays for as long as possible and doesn’t come off looking like you have bad un natural pigmentation. hope i helped babe 🙂

I also just started a beauty youtube channel if you wanna check it out. My last video is for a day time look for VALENTINES DAY xoxoxo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhs_UCGvAWg

I can only suggest in addition to everyone elses helpful hints, to have a trial run (somewhere you can cover if you are not happy with it) with it before you use it for an occasion. Then you can get an idea of what it looks like on your skin, and also areas you may have missed. As well as how much it develops over time, don’t forget some still tend to darken even after being washed off depending on your skin and how it reacts.
Good luck with it, I’m sure it will look great xx

Wax about 5 days prior.Scrub and make sure your skin is well moisturized 1 day prior otherwise u will get patches from the dry area’s.Make sure you dont use shower gel, shaving cream or moisturiser on the day you apply tan.Use a tanning mitt in upward strokes.Leave it on for as long as you can before showering for a deeper colour. If u get any tan on ur hands, use hair remover cream to remove it-takes it straight off.The best way to prolong your tan is to make sure your skin is well moisturized days leading up to applying the tan.

I always use disposable rubber gloves to apply my fake tan. You have a bit more control that way rather than a mitt. I also love to do a full body scrub (I use the frank coffee scrub) first as it’s awesome for removing dry flaky skin and is really moisturising. Good luck 🙂

I don’t really know much about gel tanning products, but I do know a bit about how to tan properly.

It’s really important to ensure you shave and exfoliate the day before, I have sometimes done it the day of and it works fine too. I exfoliate using a coffee scrub, such as franks, this does have oils in it so it can affect the tanning product if not washed off properly. Super important to focus on your dry areas, such as knees, ankles and elbows, you can apply a bit of moisturiser to these areas and then wipe it off before application.

I use a tanning mit to apply my tan (bondi sands), it’s really great for ensuring even colour and so your hands aren’t stained by the tanning product.

I sometimes do my tanning of a night, if I don’t have time to wait for it to dry properly and wash off the extra bronze coating. If I do have extra time, i’ll usually apply in the morning after my shower and then do some cleaning etc for a few hours and then i’ll wash it off. Obviously the longer you leave it the darker you’ll be. So it’s up to you.

I’ve read a few reviews about the product you’ve purchased and it seems like it fades after a week or so, evenly (which is great! No patches), it also darkens with each application you apply. The best thing I can suggest for maintaining your tan is to moisturise, and avoid exfoliating or using shower puffs!
