I am allergic to these little suckers, so I know what you are going through!

I find that applying a hydrocortisone cream is the way to go. It drys out the bites and stops itching straight away. Just be aware that it dose tends to dry your skin out, so make sure to only apply it on the bites.

Another method I like is to use a little tea tree oil. It dosen’t work as well as the cream, but it also another effective method for curbing the itching!

    Hope this helps

Tea tree oil is my go to for mossie bites

I have always run into the pantry when my children or grandchildren get a bite, be it ant, mosquito or just an irritation of some sort and dabbed vinegar on it. If the bite has been scratched and the skin broken then yes, it will sting a bit so act quickly before they scratch the skin. I can guarantee vinegar will do the trick always. If it is a spider bite then depending on the actual spider you may need emergency medical treatment, but if it is a simple non venomous spider bite the vinegar still works. Basically I have resorted to spirit alcohol to dab on the mossie bite if vinegar is not close at hand and this also works. Ant bites are also treated this way to relieve the itch.

Apparently putting something hot( a hot spoon ) on the bite can help by destroying proteins injected into you during the bite. It seems to work, but don’t take my word on it! Hope this helps 🙂

Tea Tree oil is another natural alternative.

i like this conversation. Mossies just love me. I’m more scared of them than of the spiders. I like all these remedies. Lavender oil (will try), paw paw cream (will try), excellent use for the hairspray (I love this one and I have few unused/gifted to me cans in my bathroom), and tiger balm, who would thought. Calamine Lotion is the best, soothes the itchiness almost immediately. Has a nice smell too. 🙂

An old remedy, but certainly worked for me. If the above suggestions don’t work, then have a bottle of calamine lotion on hand. Put a little on a cotton ball and dab on bites. It doesn’t look great as it’s pink, but it works.

Aloe vera is a mild remedy to not only to soothe existing bites but also ward off mozzies – they hate the smell of aloe but the effect of warding them off can vary so some mozzies might still be game and still bite.

Otherwise, tiger balm is the most effective remedy and prevention. The smell is overpowering but it is worth applying. I was severely bitten while overseas in Japan recently where it is summertime and tiger balm was a complete godsend. Once I applied it, it cooled down my itch and started healing the blemishes quickly overnight, faster than any other remedy I’ve tried.

And… just realised how old this thread is but answers could still be helpful to others later on.
