I’m taking a trip to Melbourne in November so give an Adelaide girl your best tips of places to go shopping for beauty products. Any hot tips for bargains??

For cheap yummy dumplings try Shanghai Village in China Town, it’s near the Exhibition street intersection – I’ve been full to bursting on $10 there. Victoria Street in North Richmond is great for cheap Vietnamese food, and only a quick tram ride from the CBD, just don’t go there at night. Crown has a $35 all you can eat buffet, too.

I also recommend Bourke Street Mall for Myer and DJs. Heaven. Mecca Maxima in Melbourne Central is pretty good too. There is a MAC/Estée Lauder outlet in South Melbourne, but I’m not sure if it’s open to the public. Anyone know?

I’ll be back in Melbourne in May and this time have more time and less fixed commitments so plan on getting to the DFOs which I didn’t last time. I am saving my Myers gift vouchers from doing surveys and plan on hitting up Kit and Mecca pretty much as soon as I get into the city.

Sorry this is unrelated to the topic but does know a good restaurant to eat at Melbourne CBD area? I’m going with a group of friends (we’re 16 year olds) so a nice cheap and cheerful restaurant would be great. Please let me know if you have any recommendations, it would really be appreciated 🙂

Chinatown has some good options if you like Asian food. Have a look at China Red. Salactites on Lonsdale is good for greek food.
What sort of budget are you looking at?

Do you like vietnamese food? There is an amaaaaazhing restaurant called the Mekong on Swanston Street just round the corner from Bourke Street (just over Little Bourke). It’s definitely cheap but the quality of the pho is amazing, the cold rolls are huge and the iced mango crush was yummy. It’s your usual laminated table job but for the price can’t be beaten, I think 2 pho, 2 drinks and a serve of cold rolls was about $35. https://plus.google.com/116534725373895855219/about?gl=US&hl=en

Otherwise there are a lot of good sushi places along that strip too that we ate in while we were there. For the serves the prices were good.

Shopping in the city is great – Melbourne Central, QV, GPO, Collins St, Bourke St (there’s a few alley ways in between that have quite unique stuff)

    Bargain Shopping:
    Bridge Rd, Richmond
    Smith St, Collingwood
Brunswick St and Smith St, Fitzroy
DFO (Direct Factory Outlet) South Wharf, Essendon and Moorabbin

    Major Shopping Centre:
    Westfield Doncaster Shopping Centre
    Chadstone Shopping Centre

    High End Shopping:
Toorak and Chapel St, South Yarra
    High St, Armadale
    Clarendon St, South Melbourne

Oh Melbourne … It’s been too long between visits. Head to the city and just get lost, there is the myer and David jones but there are also so many little boutiques hidden everywhere!

Thanks guys. I will probably check out Myer, definitely go to the Illamasqua counter as we don’t have one here in Adelaide. There’s a Body Shop clearance store on Bridge Road we know we will go to and our hotel is about 100 m from Daiso.

Does anyone know if the Bloom warehouse is open all the time or only for sales?
