Little red spots (legs and thighs)

Does anybody else get these? I get them even in places I dont shave (ie- top of my thighs/hips) They are little red spots – very unattractive. I find them mainly on my thighs. I think they are similar to tiny ingrown hairs. I exfoliate regularly too. I did read somewhere there is a cream you can use that has lactic acid in that stops the spots – does anybody know what it is called? I think its available from chemists but I cant find it.

Phew! I`ve had this prob too for years and never known what to do about it, but always thought it too trivial to go to the doctor for! It makes sense to me that it`s a mild form of eczema. Both of my boys get eczema in patches and we`ve never really known who they get it from. Ooops, looks like its from mummy boys. Thanks girls!

I have keratosis pilaris aswell, i found out what the name was after an intensive internet surf.
My mum used to have it (apparently it`s genetic) and her skin is really clean with no trace of it when it was one of the really bad cases – her spots were raised and rough, whereas mine are just annoying, ugly spots. She just changed her diet and started drinking lots of water, eating vegetables, the typical healthy eating. She`s urging me to do the same, but i love my meat and fries!! 🙁
I`ve been moisturising alot more and exfoliating everyday and they`ve gotten alot better. No use spending money on expensive products when if you skip a day or two, they`ll come back anyway. Just maintain a good inexpensive system – exfoliate, moisturise, exfoliate, moisturise. That`ll get it under control.

Also- has anybody with KP tried just using milk on their arms? If its lactic acid that helps, then surely pure milk would have more than the soaps/body washes? Also–MUCH cheaper!I`ll try this, and get back to you.

It`s not expensive. Most chemists stock it – you`ll find in near the QV and Ego products usually. Priceline should have it – my local one that is a Priceline pharmacy has it I`m sure. Hmm, I might go get myself some today too, I have just been using sorbolene – and my legs are so not ready for shorts! They`re very spotty at the moment ( I get very lazy over winter) I might grab a body brush too and start dry brushing.

Thanks GG, I think I might give it a try, I don`t think it`s very expensive. Can you just get it from Priceline or any Chemist?

If I`m not mistaken, Dermadrate is high in lactic acid (?) so it would be great for breaking down the excess dried skin around the hair follicle (which causes the spots). My friend has the driest skin I`ve ever seen (dryer than mine) and she uses Dermadrate, her skin is red raw and Dermadrate keeps her from going too flaky.

Just thought I`d bump this up because I`m having a similar problem – I`ve got red spots all over my legs, but they`re not raised or itchy, more like visible hair follicles if you know what I mean? They`re most visible around my ankles.
I did a little research on Google and someone recommended Dermadrate Dry Skin Treatment Cream, however I`m not sure if they were recommending it specifically for KP or just general red spots like I have. Does anyone know how effective this would be? Here`s a link with some info

Hi hun I get it too on my legs. I am pretty sure it is due to slight ingrowns, maybe not exfoliating often and also caused when waxing/epilating/shaving dry. Caron Soothing After Wax Lotion with Tea Tree Oil is great after hair removing.

I have just identified the bumps I have on the back of my arms as KP! Finally I have a name for the condition!! I have had it for ages, on and off, on the backs of my arms. My sister has it also.
I have tried exfoliation (which has worked somewhat in the past) but doesn`t seem to be working this time. I always thought that drying out the skin was the way to go, so I have been exfoliating heaps and using toner but this has made the KP worse. Thank god I found this thread, I am going to try the culmurid cream and the Neostrata stuff.
The Vitamin A serum that Ultraceuticals make, is it the Even Skintone Serum? I am desperate I will try anything. haha.
