Is it okay to use an old unopened product?

Hello lovelies
I seem to have hoarded way too many beauty products and I’ve recently started using my stash from about a year ago.
What do you think? Is it safe and basically okay to use an unopened beauty product from a year or even a couple of months back. I don’t see an expiry date on the product.
How do you decide? Do you stash away beauty products, including makeup and skincare?
I’d love to know so I can use my products more wisely and safely.
Thanks 🙂

I have heaps of Clinique goodies from GWP that are a year or two old. I think that if the product still smells fine, and is the right texture, etc, it should be fine.

I think it would depend on the product. If it has an expiry date then definitely go by that. If it doesn’t then I would only use it if unopened and no more than a year or two old. They might be fine for longer but personally I wouldn’t risk it.

    Hello lovelies
I think most powders can last for years, but i would just be careful with mascara and any product that is a liquid.

GO FOR IT! Everything is sealed air tight anyway – it’s a waste of money throwing them out!

    I agree, thanks Chris221.

Btw, in reply to the topic, I don’t use expired skin care and mascara but I have lipsticks and eyeshadows dating back to 2008. Lol.

Trish_D and CherryBlossom, thank you so much for your kind words. I think I just spend way too much time on the Internet!

*CherryBlossom*, thank you so much for your kind comments about my Internet research skills!

I’m echoing CherryBlossom’s comments, Petal. I hope you know how much we appreciate you? Hope you are feeling quite a lot better. Take care.

I love it when you echo my comments Trish!!!!
I’m so honoured to have such a dear person say that.
And you’re so right, Petal is incredible with her assistance like that. I could go on and write a very long paragraph but I don’t want to embarass Petal. I’ll stick to embarrassing myself, that’s enough 🙂

CherryBlossom that’s such a lovely thing to say – thank you so much. I just love the way Petal thinks it is SO simple and anyone can find the information she does but it is, as you’ve said, so helpful when it’s there without needing to think or investigate ourselves.

You’re BOTH treasures, in my book.
