Bollywood themed party ideas

So, I’ve been invited to a dress up party, and the theme is “fancy hipster bollywood”. What does that even MEAN? Anyway, from how I’ve interpreted it, I think I should dress up boho/bollywood chic.

Does anyone have any cute outfit, hair and makeup ideas? Right now I’m thinking: winged eyeliner, bold lip, bindi, headchain, heaps of bracelets, and an anklet. For shoes I’m gonna go with sandals, but I have absolutely no idea what clothes to wear. Maybe a maxi skirt and a crop top…

Help, please! 🙂

Hi, Ana! Yes, misfortune8 and Chicklet are right. A sari is the basic thing for the Bollywood outfit.

Then you have to have lots of accessories. Saw this bracelet here – http://www.partiesonline.com.au/bollywoodbelly-dancer-bracelet-set-p-10421.html. I think it’s even easy to make if you plan to DIY.

Hope you’ll enjoy your dress-up party!

The traditional sari is just a long, long piece of fabric, usually in a bright colour & very difficult to wrap properly. Bollywood is so glam & very colourful – the Bollywood saris look to be more tailored.
Despite my avatar, I’m not Indian, but I looked at the website Chicklet mentioned – there’s some beauties there.

How long until the party? I’ve got a Bollywood themed event coming up and I’m getting a (surprisingly) cheap sari from this site: http://www.utsavfashion.com. Even if you don’t buy anything from there, having a look through will give you some ideas.
