Beginners: High Heels

Recently, I bought a pair of high-heeled boots and they’re lovely to wear but after walking around all day in them (it felt like I was walking on pins and needles) I wasn’t surprised when I found blisters on the little toes and they are huge (I’d like to post the sizes of them, but you’ll most likely scream!) What are things I can purchase on the market that I can insert in high heels/boots to stop the rubbing and future blisters on my little toes?! Plus, I have my formal graduation soon and I need some tips/advice/gel inserts for comfortably walking/dancing in high heels

Please and thank you! (:

I have tried the Scholl inner soles before and while they seem like a good idea, I find that they slip around the shoes and don’t really do a good job for me.

Hi rose-petals! Scholl is a brand that has a few different products (called Party Feet) they’re affordable around the $10 mark. They have a few different products like gel sole inserts for high heels/boots and little gel cushions for toes etc to prevent blisters which would be great for dancing plus other options for day wear. You can get them from Priceline, Kmart, Target, Coles … pretty much anywhere! I hope this helps out a bit =)

This happens sometimes when the shoes are too tight as well! You can try leaving wet news paper in the shoes overnight to stretch them a little!

I’d say, make sure your shoes are leather to begin with and that they fit properly when you try them on. If a shoe is uncomfortable to begin with you will never “wear them in” as is often stated. Synthetik leather does not stretch as well as leather, so if you can, stay away from those. Patent shoes also don’t have that stretch that ‘normal’ leather shoes do.

    Good luck with your graduation.

I used those petal feet ones for my formal shoes and I found they made a real difference, I also now make sure I find more comfortable styles. No fashion is worth potential back injury or aching sore feet. Stick to lower heels with large heel widths and comfortable lining. Might have to pay a few more $$ but its worth the extra investment.

There are plenty of tips / tricks out there for wearing heels but what it really comes down to is the pair you buy. I own over a dozen pairs and i can only stand to spend the evening in maybe 2 pairs!

If youre going to go high, you need to go expensive. Something with an innersole and arch support that feels super cushy when you touch it. Genuine leather is also a bonus becuase a couple of wears and it moulds to your feet and you will never have blisters from them again!

If you can avoid it though, the lower the better! Right now chunky lower heels with straps are popular which is great because they are so comfortable!

Also just because you mentioned youre not too experienced with heels i’d suggest looking at some youtube videos or talking to someone about how you walk in them because that can make all the diference too 🙂

Sorry rose-petals, I have no idea about this. And I have never purchased innersoles.

My daughter wears them and she seems to use bandaids afterwards . I would take care not to buy them too high as apparently they are very bad for your backs esp if you are young and still developing your backbone. Alas , enjoy the night 🙂

I agree with bedgk18 about the thick socks & preventative band aids in the sensitive areas.

You can buy comfort innersoles at the supermarket, chemist or places like Kmart, BigW. Be warned, they take up space inside your boot, so they might be too tight after you put them in. Even the cheap lambs wool innersoles make shoes more comfortable, until they wear down which takes quite a while.

Try wearing the boots if you’re going to be sitting down for a while, like watching tv, & get up every now & then in the ad breaks.

    Have fun!
