What’s Your Favourite Coconut Oil?

Is there really such a thing as “premium” coconut oil? I gotta say, I’m not so sure. There are definitely some dodgy ones in the low price range so I’ve been shelling out big bucks for the fancy premium brands, like Coconut Magic and Cocovit. But the other day in Woolies, I was tempted to snap up a $7 jar of their Macro organic coconut oil to compare – and I will, but I just thought I’d ask what brands other coconut oil lovers are using. Do you have a favourite? Do you think it’s worth the splurge on the “designer” brands?

Planet Food Coconut Oil, I buy this from Coles in the health food aisle and use it on my hair, face and body. Good value for money. I’m happy with it.

I’ve received CoconutRevolution as a gift about 3 months ago and i’m just about finished the whole jar…It’s 100% cold pressed virgin coconut oil and i found it quite good to use on my hair, skin and also to remove my makeup! love the smell too!

I often visit Healthy Life which has stores across Australia. They mainly stock Aclara Health Coconut Oil which is all Organic. The Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Oil is between $10 and $24.95 for 250 to 700ml.

I’m trying to find my bottle of coconut oil to see what brand it is.

But I’ve been buying and drinking coconut water for a couple of months now, different brands, Cocobella, Zico and Tipco are some of the brands I’ve had, the Tipco is the one I like best and is found in fresh fruit shops.

i’ve used macro before and now i’m using H2COCO that i picked up from Chemist warehouse. Found no issue with either of them. Though i always look for cold pressed and virgin coconut oil.

I’m using Bioglan right now and I like it, although I can’t compare with other brands since I’ve only used this one! I might try others once I finish my jar 🙂

I use Melrose for my skin and hair, which I grab for cheap at Chemist Warehouse. I’m also trying to find a good, mild coconut oil for cooking. I’ve heard refined coconut oil is good if you’re not keen on the strong coconut taste.

I think that there is a difference in the quality of different brands of coconut oil depending on how it is processed etc. If I’m using coconut oil as a pre-shampoo hair treatment, then I will use a cheap brand. If I’m using coconut oil for therapeutic purposes, then I will use a premium brand.

I’ve just bought Loving Earth cold-pressed coconut oil. I tried it for stir frying and it had such a strong smell that I felt a bit nauseous. I’d appreciate suggestions on a quality coconut oil suitable for cooking that doesn’t have a strong scent.

I use the Macro brand as well as Absolute Organic brand, I have no issues with either 🙂
