Menstrual Cup?

Warning, things could get gross…

So, I’ve been thinking about getting myself one of these, seen a few you tube reviews but wondering what the local Aussie Beauties think and also if there are any Australian made products worth considering before I go to an overseas, well established, brand.

I spend a fortune on ‘lady belly’ products and it’s all so awful, I wanted to know if this helps with

Pain
Mess
Cost
Leaks

Any answers appreciated, thirty years I’ve put up with this, THIRTY YEARS.

Thanks Beauties!

My cousin who is a doctor uses one, it is safe, no toxic shock risk, very economical to use.

I’m interested in this topic too and found the article cited above quite useful. I’m keen to give this a try but worry about the safety of the cheap ebay ones (like $3 or under) and not so keen to part with $58 in case it doesn’t suit me. Trial team? I’d be very interested (in participating but also in reading reviews). btw, and this is a bit of an aside but period pants are brilliant. I’ve got Modibodi and Thinx and prefer the modibodis – more comfortable and they’re Aussie which I prefer, but Thinx aren’t bad and both work really really well (still want a menstrual cup though).

So, I found a blogger who was recommending a brand on Ebay, they show some kind of hygiene certificate which is nice, I’m not convinced, but for $7.99, oh yeah… I went into a health food shop the other day and they wanted $64.99 #chancers

I’m going to buy some of that sterilizing stuff they use for baby bottles, I think if it’s gentle and clean enough for a bottle for a baby’s mouth then my lady bits should be ok.

    Thoughts???

I think that the Milton solution would be mild enough but remember that your lady bits pH is different to a baby`s mouth pH, so you don`t want to use anything that will mess with it (yeast infection anyone?). I favour boiling for ten minutes myself.
I have used cups for years now and only got yeast infections before I started boiling instead of washing the cup. None since then.

Juvmonkey: there`s already a thread in use covering lots of Q&As about menstrual cups. I converted to menstrual cups after hearing about them first on this thread here:

    Hi Juvmonkey,

Menstrual cups vs tampons: Which one is better?
