Fitbits, yay or nay?

Ok this is probably the wrong time to ask this question because I already bought one but…. 2 hours after buying it, it stopped working! Being the silly that I am didn’t really research the quality of them because I (stupidly) thought well I am paying $169 it should be good right? Then I read a bit online and they have got an awful rep 🙁 I really want it to be good! Anyone have a Fitbit (mine is a Charge) and they are totally happy with it and had it for a while and no issues? I realize that most people post reviews when they are not happy, and that maybe all the happy ones are out walking/exercising and not spudding in front of the computer like me. Any thoughts? (ps I am taking it back tomorrow, but want to know if I should exchange or refund?) thank you

If they work I find them to be a great guide. I’ve heard of people who can’t make decisions without checking them first 🙁 Don’t let it take over your days, let it give you information only. And have fun with it.
(Here’s where I confess I’m doing all possible to reach my daily step limit LOL)

I was really into them at the start of the year but soon it becomes boring like you get over it. I find that putting it on everyday was a bit of a drainer and i am way too skeptical to wear it in the shower so I had to take it off before I showered! Its kind of annoying to charge it too but overall, it makes you happy seeing how many steps you do and calories you loose, good motivation!

I will say a big no to them – they are faulty and don’t work. Get a Garmin Vivofit, they are far superior and do more than the Fitbits AND they are waterproof to 50mt so you can wear them in the pool. Their tracking is also superior, they have more complex charts on their app and I found them more accurate. The biggest benefit for me (apart from the accuracy) is that the Vivofits don’t need charging, the biggest pain with the Fitbit is you have to charge them every 3 days or so, it’s a pain – the Vivofit has a watch battery which lasts a year or more.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone has any recent thoughts on the FitBit Charge HR?

I’m currently thinking about picking one up to kick start getting fit but there seems to be some really mixed reviews with people even stating they developed a rash from wearing it!

I’ve got a Garmin Vivofit. I got it in december with Flybuys and I love it. Never had any problem with it. And it keeps me motivated to do at least 10.000 steps a day

And a further update, 3 Fitbits in one month! Totally over them! Get yourself a Garmin – Fitbits are really poor quality.

Just a FYI for anyone reading this who is thinking about getting one, I highly recommend not getting a Fitbit brand. They are the most expensive so you would think they are the best right? nope! I was looking at the Garmins, they look pretty good and do the same things as the Charge but not as expensive. If this second Fitbit they gave me dies I will get a Garmin I think. Can’t do anything but praise the staff at the Goodguys, they were so helpful and nice about it.

Thanks for the advice, I did email them but it has been more than 36 hours now and no response. I ended up swapping it for another one, I am hoping this one lasts longer than the first one. The store was really good about it – they said if any probs with this one I can exchange it for a different brand.

I have been thinking about buying a fitbit, not sure which one. At least their customer service seems to be good.

Agree with Dimity, you should email them or post to their facebook page. I had a Fitbit flex before for over a year and it was fine and a few months ago I upgraded to the Fitbit Charge HR and so far so good. I had to contact them on facebook because I couldn’t register it on my computer but it was all solved. They responded to my query within 12 hours I think….

I like my Fitbit Charge HR…the only thing is that I have to charge it more often than when I had my Fitbit Flex..but I’m assuming its because of the heart rate monitor function.
