Tips for using Coconut Oil

After killing my hair and doing a little research, I’ve decided to buy some extra virgin coconut oil and start some regular treatments.

I also discovered it’s great to ingest and use on your skin and is amazing for so many health aspects.

What/how do you use coconut oil? I’d love to hear everyones tips.

I’ve used organic coconut oil as an effective topical treatment for treating cystic acne in the past. Haven’t had one in years!

Otherwise I avoid it like the plague itself or in skincare products as I find its general topical use to be terribly comedogenic. I prefer to ingest coconut oil.

I use it in my hair all the time. I use it on my ends (I have ombre) so the bleaching dried them out a little. I leave it in for about 2-3 hours and my hair comes out so soft and I find it lasts longer. As far as treatments go it is one of the best I have ever used, (and it is all natural and cheaper than expensive brand name treatments)

I also use it on my scalp, I have had dry scalp issues since I was younger (eight-nine years old). it really helps with that as it removes a lot of the dry skin and eases the redness.

I also use coconut oil to clean my make up brushes and beauty blenders, my brushes and blenders come up brand new and they always smell so clean afterwards.

If you going to use it for deep conditioning you have at least an hour or two for this treatment. (The longer you leave coconut oil on your hair, the more effective it will be!). If you have long or curly hair, dealing with tangles may be a daily battle for you. Use your fingers to gently massage the oil into the ends of your hair, then – starting from the ends and working your way toward the roots – gently work out tangles with a comb or hair pick.
