Sleep Supplements

Help! I can’t sleep!
I’m having problems falling asleep and staying asleep. I really don’t know why. I’m not too hot or too cold, I’m comfortable, and there’s nothing bothering me. I’m finding it very hard to get going in the morning due to the fact that I’m so tired.
Has anyone used sleep supplements, eg Swisse sleep, or Complete Sleep etc. I don’t want to take prescription sleeping medication, cos they are addictive and leave me feeling like I’ve got a hangover.
Anyone???

You could try magnesium. One hour before going to bed. It helps relax.

I don’t always use sleep supplements, but as I am in my exam period, I like to take something to prevent me from waking up in the night and feeling exhausted in the morning. I’ve been using the Kalms Night One-A-Night tablets, which are herbal tablets that calm you down before bed time, so you find it easier to fall asleep and stay in deep sleep during the night. Works well for me, I just take a tablet, read my book for half an hour and I’m out!

My partner has insomnia so I got him onto valerian tablets before bed and they work a treat. Just don’t take them in conjunction with some meds like anti-depressants or if you’ve been drinking

    Could it be hormonal?
I take wagners magnesium before bed which helps with relaxation. Also I’ve tried complete sleep which is really good too. I have tried restavit, only 1/2 a tablet and it works but leaves a hangover the next day. I’ve also been recommended to try meditation and yoga to learn sleep techniques, but haven’t looked into that yet. I know how you feel though, it’s horrible not sleeping, and you feel like a zombie the next day and feel like you’re not able to function properly. Goodluck!

Consider a Natural Approach – Certain herbal teas can help you to fall asleep. Chamomile is a popular one.
Apart from it yes, Meditation will help in it as it will calm your mind.

Meditate – If you’d rather quiet your mind but leave your muscles out of it, a simple mindfulness meditation may also do the trick.

Isnt that so annoying? Ive heard lots about how valerian helps also. A winding down routine is also helpful and trying to leave the tv / computers before bedtime and limiting the caffine. And as Imalittleteapot said, lavender as its supposed to help you relax and unwind, and the oldest trick in the book is a glass of warm milk and honey.
I hope that you find something that helps soon Rose_P.
