I would love to see something on living with chronic pain. And depression

I have these issues Linda, and it is a struggle. I am going to the pain clinic in Park Ville which is a very through place. They deal with everything including moods. I have been going to this clinic for 3 years. And I went to another one when I live in a more rural town. You need to get your doctor to referr you to a pain clinic, and like most places like these there is a long waiting list. Its taken me 2 years to be going there again in November. They use many methods of assessing you, and then also do focus on you as a person and how Chronic Pain effects your life. I am currently using medication that they prescribed for me and its been quite good. But I do still have really bad days. So perhaps you may want to look into this type of help with your condition. I hope this has helped and I know that its often hard to get in, but they really do and show you alot of ways of dealing with pain and emotional conditions. I wish you all the Best and really hope that you can get some good help, as it is alot to take on alone. Take Care ((hugs))

I have had depression and anxiety. I am on medication for it but it is for anxiety now because I don’t feel the deep depression anymore. I don’t want to stay on the medication for the rest of my life but going off them seems so scary and I don’t want feel that overwhelming anxiety in my day to day life.

I am being overweight now a days. I am drinking green tea and having nuts in my daily diet and fruits as well. But still I am not loosing weight. Please help me if anything can help me to loose weight

Exercises are very important in loosing weight. My friend is overweight too, she was on a healthy diet and did exercise everyday for the past months. She has lost 15 kg so far. You also need to control your portion

I agree portion control is very important. And excercising at least 6 days a week will help. I wouldn’t rely on just drinking Green Tea, or eating fruit and nuts. Be wary of the amount of fruit you are eating as the sugar content in fruit is quite high and shouldn’t be consumed in excess amounts.

I’ve been recently diagnosed with a very serious health condition & couldn’t find anything related to it on BH currently.

I’d really like to see some articles here on heart disease – prevention, but also warning signs.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with “Congestive Heart Failure”. A diagnosis that’s absolutely floored me & my family. I’m currently scared, uncertain how long I’ve had it for, and starting medication treatment, plus going under a specialist for testing to find out ‘why’. At the moment, there’s nothing they can find on initial tests that’s the obvious cause.

That said, looking at my health over the past 2+ years, it’s obvious I’ve had this for quite some time – everything from ‘carrying some fluid in my feet, that’s worsening despite regular diuretics, to abdominal fluid retention, crazy weight gain and extreme tiredness that’s at times been overwhelming, plus excessive thirst – but despite visiting a doctor regularly for other health reasons & being diagnosed with other serious health conditions in this time, my CHF was not diagnosed.

This changed when I was hospitalised 2.5 weeks ago, had major open abdominal surgery/gall bladder out, had a partially collapsed lung (CHF likely cause) straight after surgery & then had severe fluid retention issues in hospital.

I’m grateful now for my sick gallbladder – it meant how sick my heart is finally got mine & my doctors attention. I honestly thought my heart was healthy pre this diagnosis ie low cholesterol, normal blood pressure, I don’t smoke, I very rarely drink alcohol, and I had no angina or other chest pains warning me of this insidious, usually deadly if untreated disease.

I’m one of the 1% of CHF patients in the 50-59 age group – it’s common in people in their 80’s, but at barely 50 years of age, I’m not an ‘obvious’ patient.

That said – my Dad died of heart disease due to cholesterol & high blood pressure in his early 50’s – a risk of heart disease has always been a possibility, but I never expected CHF.

So without being too depressing, I’d love to see BH talk about heart disease & women. How to prevent, but also how to spot it.

I’m lucky a sick gallbladder may have just saved my life – I’m determined to beat this, while I’m scared tests will show I’ve had this quite some time & that makes me likely to be in the more serious category, especially given the severity of my fluid issues – I know with me working hard with my doctors & cardiology doctors & making sure my lifestyle improves, & I eat really well, cut salt, drink less fluids & do gentle, modest amount of walking on the better days, that I may turn the corner with my health & stop the disease progressing in the wrong direction.

I do hope all goes well with you Linda and Im sure that now doctors are looking into things with eyes wide open, that I do hope that they going to do all they can to work with you. I wish you nothing but the best. I will think of you as all of us on BH have been reading your posts and we are all sending you our best wishes. (( LINDA))
