Wedding Nails Gel vs Acrylic????

HI all 🙂

I am getting married and trying different nail types. I have recently had my first set of acrylics put on and I love them. I have had them infilled twice and I love how tough and robust they are.
Prior to that I had stunning shellac manicures fortnightly. I decided to go acrylics as you can guarantee I would break a natural nail prior to wedding day!!!
My question to all you savvy nails lovers out there. How damaging are they going to be to my natural nails? I apply oil or cocoa butter (raw) to my cuticles daily to keep them nourished.
Should I ditch them and switch to gel nails???
Love to hear your thoughts ladies.

Acrylic is most damaging especially if you have tips put on as the nail glue they use is like super glue! If the acrylic is soaked off properly and you don’t have tips you shouldn’t get too much damage. As with any acrylic, shellac or gels if you have tips glued on you will most definitely get damage and also depends on who you get to infill them. At cheaper places they go for speed and often remove some of the surface (too much) of your nail when they buff them before they fill them. Especially if they use those electric nail file things. For long term I’d stick with shellac at a reputable salon. Acrylic and/or tips are great for a special occasion.

Ive never had gels so i cant comment how they will be on your nails its best to talk to your nail technician and see what they recommend is best for your nails

Ive had both shellac and acrylic nails and now cant grow my natural nails as they are so weak from having fake nails for a long period of time

It honestly depends on you nail technician and how many times you infill them.

I had acrylics for 6 months and took them off and my nails were damaged (ridges, soft, weak, splitting).

I did however get them for my wedding last year and got them infilled once whilst I was on my honeymoon in the states. Once I came back I took them off and my nails were fine, they were soft, but they didn’t take long to recover because I didn’t keep them on for long.

I can’t comment on gel nails, i’ve only had them once but i didn’t find them as strong as acrylic.
