thanks every one they are a great help. I have used argan oil, macadania oil and a keratin spray but they all make my hair really oily and would have to wash my hair everyday not every couple of days with out. will have to try and get a hair trimmed more often. i do try and use a hair product by sunsilk. frizz and weather defence.

Nothing will repair split ends but regular trims definately help.

I just use my Pro Naturals Moroccan argan oil leave in treatment after every shampoo/condition day and apply the argan oil to my towel dried hair especially the ends and partway up the hair shaft and only then do I use my blow dryer and flat iron. I was and style my hair approximately every 3 days and so far I do not suffer from breakage, split ends, flat hair, greasy hair , frizzy ends or static. I just have very shiny white/grey hair.

    Hi,

The best way to get rid of split ends is a hot oil treatment with coconut oil. You need to trim the split ends and you should drink plenty of water.

Make sure you are using the right masks and treatments for your hair type.

I agree with Sunjeanie, get your hair cut a little more often (I get mine trimmed every two months), otherwise what might have happened is that your split ends have travelled up quite high and that is why you get them so easily.
Otherwise invest in a good heat protector and I use Moroccan oil on my ends to keep them healthy. Otherwise what sort of straightener do you have? Maybe it is too hot for your hair?

I think the moisture mask recommendations made are great ones but I think you should also consider adding into your repertoire something heavy on protein that can help the structure of your hair. My favourite both for effectiveness and reasonable cost is Joico KPax Reconstructor. It costs more than supermarket treatments but after the first time you try it you’ll understand why.

What I do is as soon as I get into the shower I wash my hair with shampoo, rinse it and then I put on the reconstructor from the tops of my ears down, focusing on the bottom third of my hair. I then do everything else I’ve gotta do and rinse off the treatment very very last thing. In warm weather I even turn the shower off for a bit and listen to some music, read a magazine whatever. It really does wonders for the integrity of your hair.

Also are you using a heat protectant? Super important for when heat styling!

Try get your haircut more often, as once they start, they only get worse.

Keep your hair plaited or contained from you tossing and turning during your sleep as it’s one way you really damage your hair. Putting in a leave in conditioner or hair serum/oil before plaiting locks in more moisture.

Leave straightening or heat-styling for special occasions. Once I got my hair to a certain length it weighed itself down and looked nice without styling. (like in my picture – no styling!) 🙂

On the day I’m going to wash my hair, I’ll slather my hair in pure argan oil (you could also try coconut oil or olive oil etc) and leave it to soak in for as long as I can with my hair tied up in a bun before washing. The ends are more protected from being stripped dry by the shampoo that way.

Maybe try natural products – I made a switch as I was running out of ideas to keep my hair healthy. I use Nourish Naturals’ shampoo and conditioner and I use Keune’s So Pure leave in conditioner. I find my hair is much more shiny and not weighed down by silicones and other chemicals.

    Hope this helps 🙂

Have you tried coconut oil as a hair mask? I normally do it maybe every few weeks and I leave it over night… does wonders… 🙂
