How Often Should I Wash My Hair? (Fine and wavy 2a)

I’ve only recently stopped washing my hair everyday and started every other day. Although my hair still is oily on the 2nd day, it seems less frizzy and more smooth. But after reading several different opinions about how much you should wash your hair (or if you should at all) I want to know people’s opinions. If you have fine wavy or curly hair, how much do you wash it? What should my goal be for days I can go without washing?

Fast carefully wets your hair. You should be using medium temperature water because hot water harmful for hair.

    Hi,

Washing you hair depends on how clean your scalp is. If you feel your scalp is oily and it is itchy you can wash your hair. The best is to wash your hair 2 or 3 times a week. Do not wash your hair regularly as it might make your hair very dry.

i wash mine everyday as I exercise most of the time. I’ve been told by my hairdresser to wash it every 2 days, I’m trying to do that at the moment, but I get annoyed with the feeling that I have dirty hair!

I used to wash my hair every day. Now it’s winter I can let it go 3-4 days. Need to wash it more often in summer and when I exercise a lot.

I wash my hair every other day (second day), I really don’t think it’s healthy for one to wash everyay. Even though your scalp might be oily, it’s so unhealthy to wash it everyday! Shampoo is packed with chemicals and eventually your ends will dry out! Reason why it gets oily when you’ve moved from washing it everyday to every second day is because your hair is accustomed to the hair being washed everyday. It will naturally produce more oils but eventually, it will produce less oil! So don’t be fooled (:

I too wash my hair every other day but I’m thinking of trying to extend it! Maybe to every 3 or 4 days

I wash my hair every day, and my hair is fine and super long (down to the small of my back).
I think it really depends on your shampoo and conditioner. I used to buy Dove or Pantene (In fact I don’t think there is one supermarket brand I haven’t tried ) Now I buy Biolage Matrix which costs a small fortune but lasts me three months (I’m not kidding) and I find I can wash my hair daily and its not oily, its not dry its just right. You might have to try a better quality hair product not necessarily the one I mentioned but find one that works for you. My job is outdoors and I need to wash my hair daily and if you find a good product that works with your choices I don’t think it matters how much you wash your hair as long as you are happy with the results.

But what’s your natural hair type? I’m almost certain my hair is naturally dry. I’ve tried a lot of different shampoos, admittedly not any from Matrix but the range of products I’ve tried, along with the flakely scalp I’m currently battling, leads me to believe that washing everyday has really dried out my hair. Products either only temporarily tame it (by temporarily, I literally mean 5 minutes) or make it too oily. My hair is still REALLY dry even though I was every other day and use apple cider vinegar rinse and conditioner the 2nd day.
