Bleaching gone wrong!

So just recently, I tried to bleach my hair. Terrible mistake. My hair was far too dry and brittle to even attempt this but I thought it was safe enough to give it a go. Baking soda and developer was supposed to be a healthier way to bleach your hair without blue bleach. Either way I lost ALOT of hair.
As you can imagine I was a mess. Crying while my mum was kind enough to wash my hair out. I had the worst hair experience I’ve ever had in my life. So does anyone know of a really good method to keep your hair healthy and shiny? I’m getting my hair cut, it’s now up to my shoulders but will be much shorter. So a whole year of keeping my hair away from heat was wasted. It was down just below my bust and now it’s going to have to be just around my ear. So my advice is please NEVER use a bleaching EVEN if it is supposed to be healthier than any other bleach. As long as your hair is dry, it will not be safe.

If you ever need to have you hair bleached, go the extra mile in cost and get Hi-Lift put on instead of high volume, quick developing bleach. Makes hair quality so much better!

DeLorezo products are fantastic and because they are a small Australian company I am even happier to buy their products

I’ve been there and know how upsetting it can be, every natural/coloured blonde always goes darker to let it grow/become healthy again and promises she won’t ever touch it with bleach again but light blonde hair is just too tempting!

I recently bought a De Lorenzo ” Rejuven8 ” pack (shampoo, treatment, conditioner) from a local hair salon as I’ve heard great things about their products and recently went back to a lighter/bleached blonde. Where i went (local salon) it was only $30 (but might be more depending where you go) which is great value as i’m still getting uses out of it and it has dramatically changed the health of my hair. I’ve tried many natural and low end products through the years for my bleached hair but this has been the one that I can actually say really worked on my dry/damaged hair.

I agree with Heartsdesire about coconut oil too, apply it as an overnight treatment – I found it strengthened my hair quite a bit.

Whatever you do avoid any heat styling for the next few months as it will just increase the damage, and even when it grows back a bit try to avoid using hair ties as your hair is very weak and it will snap off the ends.

If you want to help it grow faster too i’d say try out a hair supplement like Swisse Hair Skin Nails, or Hairfinity (can only be purchased online).
Protein is a good ingredient in hair products and also in your diet for speeding up hair growth, and if you don’t like taking supplements just have a look at the ingredients in hair growth supplements and include those vitamins in your diet.

I’ve heard great things about Hairfinity, I will be trying alot of different treatments but right now not washing my hair is all I can do before getting my hair cut. I’ve also heard things about Mane n Tail helping hair growth, I will definitely be trying that. It is actually a horse shampoo and conditioner… And I know that seems strange but apparently it has proteins and vitamins in it that repair dry damaged hair and I’m amped to give it a go. I’ll have to get that online too. So I’ll be keeping a keen eye. 

I’ve tried mane and tail and it works quite well to strengthen the hair but I found it to be very drying when used alone (as some protein shampoo/conditioners are) so make sure you use a deep conditioner/treatment along with it to keep the moisture balance in your hair. I bought mine from iherb.com, they have a lot of other similar natural hair products which are fairly cheap and most are organic so they are very gentle on fragile hair. 🙂

Let me know if you try hairfinity, I’m curious to see if you like it as much as I did.

I definitely will  and was it the normal Mane n Tail or the deep moisturising one? I think that’s what it’s called.. Brain blank moment  I’ve been doing deep conditioning treatments on my hair I’ve been putting off getting it cut but suprisingly it’s grown quite a bit since it all snapped off. Still, will be trying these products as my hair need the best possible care it can get right now lol.

It was just the original one so that explains it lol, I wasn’t aware of the other one but I’ll have to try it too 🙂

So I’ve ordered my Hairfinity and its been close to 7 days since it was ordered, how long did it take to he to you and were you able to track it after the 48 hour period?

This is why there are professional hairdressers! You should never bleach your own hair especially with something like baking soda and developer.
To get your hair better use coconut oil every day all over your hair
Also try redken anti snap treatment

Honestly I’ve seen what some of the hair dressers here have done to hair and calling them professionals is a joke. I’ve done the baking soda and developer mixture before but my hair wasn’t so vulnerable then. My mum has had her hair mutilated by many hair dressers over the past 2 years. And this is why I am horrified of going to a hair dresser tbh. One of my friends had her hair bleached by a professional hair dresser that she’d known her whole life. Anyway she went from black to blonde and her hair was snapping off in layers from the top. I’m thankful I still have length.

What a terrible and scary experience! I definitely agree with the hot oil treatment – I did one 2 nights ago and I always get amazing results. I use a mixture of coconut, olive and macadamia oils.

I’m on a hair growth challenge so keeping my hair healthy is integral since I don’t want to end up with long, unhealthy, straw hair like before.

I’ve only ever coloured my hair 2 or 3 times in my and I’m 23 now. So

I stay away from heat tools as much as I can – up until last year I straightened/curled my hair few times a year but since December I use heat on my hair maybe twice a month because I asked and received the VS Sassoon Curl Secret and it was expensive so now I feel obliged to use it! And I always use heat protectant. I do a hot oil treatment after I’ve used heat, makes my hair “brand new” as if nothing happened to, not even being fried…

There’s a few different ones I’m pretty sure, including a herbal one? But I’ll be trying the deep moisturising one simply because of the feedback from the original Mane n Tail.
