Hi guys…

Just want to know what you think about hugely discounted perfumes you can get from Chemist Warehouse? Are they authentic? Are they perfumes that have gone past their shelf life?

I saw Britney Spears Fantasy 50ml at Chemist Warehouse for only $20! I couldn’t believe the price so I’ve started to be a little skeptical about the quality….

Hi cuteeyes…. I don’t know I’ve bought a few fragrances from these discounted places and the fragrance seems to fade very quickly when you wear it…. seems very weak…. so I won’t buy any more from there…. well that’s my experience and a few of my friends have said the same thing….

I’m quite weary of these too as i have seen so many reports on the news or accurent affairs shows about how dodgy they are. Apparently some people who sell perfumes to discount places or markets put things in them like cat urine! I have bought a perfume or too from places like chemist warehouse before and wasnt really satisfied, but thats not to say you shouldnt investigate more lol. If the britney perfumes only twenty bucks try seeing if there are like testers so you can test the quality before you buy. I’m sure there are a lot of perfumes which are the realy thing.

I’m not so sure about the cheap places. I usually just go to Myer, DJ or Priceline to get my fragrances

Chemist Warehouse fragrances are authentic. They are just able to be heavily dicounted becuase they are bought in bulk. I reckon it’s worth the saving!

I was in Chemist Warehouse recently and enquired about their discounted prices on perfumes and advised by the pharmacist they buy bulk to offer customers the best value on genuine perfumes.

My sister inlaw recently purchased her favourite perfume and saved a bundle!!

I find the smell is gone within an hour or so. You end up using more so may as well fork out the big $$ and get the real thing. I do have a couple of knock offs and they smell nice I just go through it much faster and it ends up costing the same.

The discount perfumes at pharmacies aren’t the knock offs though (I agree, can’t stand those!). They are the genuine perfume, and are only sold so cheaply because they are bought in bulk, and they also don’t have the frightening mark-up that places like Myers/DJ’s put on them. They are the authentic perfume, I buy mine there :]

I think the only thing you need to be careful about when buying from a Chemist etc is that you know what you are buying.. As they stock allot of discontinued fragrances.. The fragrance you are buying could already be years old… Prime example is the one near me is selling all Escada fragrances… Now the escada fragrances are only released for a year (this years is Moon Sparkle) but they are still selling things like pacific paradise, which is from 2005 – whish is already passed it suggested life!
So provided you know wheat your buying you can get a good deal, but otherwise I would stick to new releases so you can ensure you are not getting an “old” Product!

The perfumes are definitely genuine but they sometimes sell discontinued fragrances which can seem to fade faster and smell a little different. Just as long as you stick to the recently released ones, you’ll be sure to have a quality perfume but at a much cheaper price.

I haven’t bought any fragrances from Chemist Warehouse, but I did recently buy one from MyChemist and it was Juicy Couture which was released fairly recently so I don’t think it is old stock. The fragrance lasts for ages. What you need to watch out for is what kind of fragrance the chemists are selling, if it’s eau de toilette it will fade faster than eau de parfum. And I have also seen them advertise eau de cologne or splash -these will fade very fast. I can imagine that they sometimes sell old stock at low prices -I would keep that in mind, but that doesn’t have to stop you from buying at these chemists.

I take back my words! I received two perfumes, bought from chemist warehouse on sale, for my brithday and they are great. The real thing( and if not they certainly look like it) and i love them. It is just a mix, there will be some good and some bad. personally if a place like chemist warehouse sells things for cheaper why not buy it and try it. you are never going to know until you do, and if it turns out bad at least you didnt pay full price!

Chemist ware house does have some perfumes at discounted prices & they have a web site that you can go to .If you know what you want it is so easy to order from them. If you can get it cheaper then all the better.

I recently saw a skin care product that I had been wanting to try at a chemist for about half its normal retail price. I suspect it’s because it’s old stock. Does anyone think that old skincare is still OK to use? What would be the negatives of using it? Would it be less effective?

I have bought nearly all my perfumes from these discount pharmacies… they are genuine, but if you have a look at some, especially ones bought without a box, they often have “tester, not for resale” on them…. that’s why they are so cheap sometimes.

I don’t care though.

i have no problem with the discount places.
They sell the real deal.
But they also sell the “knock offs” which sents fade quickly.
Thats why i never ever buy the knock off i also buy the real deal

discount perfumes from chemist warehouse are genuine perfumes, although I would question the quality, perfumes do ‘go off’ and can be spoilt from numerous thing such as heat and sunlight. I have seen the perfumes in these stores and they are usually displayed in the windows, imagine the heat and light they get daily! Now you will save money, but is it worth it if the scent has gone sour?

I would agree with you. These discount stores do buy in bulk and though I agree that they are genuine, you need to be aware of the use by date and their storage proctices, especially when they come unboxed

they are authentic. it’s different to buying copy fragrances and things.. and as a big business, if they were dodgy, i think we’d know. the dodgy ones are ones that you would often find in markets or say the easter show where they say it’s an ‘alternative’ to “FRAGRANCE NAME”. i would not trust these for safety reasons as the quality standards are often lower. if they work for you, then that’s fine.

I believe Chemist Warehouse has the real perfumes. But it does not have all the products. So if you are looking for other perfume try Strawberry net. It is on the website. But a cheap perfume is great.

You have to be careful of discounted fragrance stores, because they do buy bulk. A fragrance lasts on average of two years if they are stored in a dark cool place. So the chemist might buy bulk and store in a hot warehouse, so be really careful. As least in Myer and David Jones they have consultants that actually work for the fragrance company, so all stock is extra great.
