whitening teeth

Wanting to naturally whiten my teeth but without spending a fortune at the dentist.
Anyone have any natural alternatives to whitening teeth at home?

Mix sodium bicarbonate, strawberries and water together and mash up into a paste. Apply once a week for noticeable results

I made a comment yesterday, then deleted it, but for what it’s worth, here it is. I recently used the Pearl Drops 2 Day White, which I got in the September discovery bag & I thought it was fantastic.

It’s RRP $24.99 & I got terrific results. I must mention that my teeth are naturally fairly white, because I take care of them. I’m 49 & I’ve been drinking black tea since I was about 5 & coffee (white) since about 12. I’ve also smoked in the past, intermittently. It’s not “natural” but it’s gentle & it works. It would only set you back a $25 & it just might do the trick for you.

I got an at home teeth whiting kit. I was lucky that my health fund AHM paid 60% of the price so i only paid like $150. That’s because it comes with moulds of your teeth done. You can purchase the teeth whiting stuff itself off ebay for $20. It is just the first intial cost. It works perfectly, after a week my teeth are several shades whiter.

I feel like high fiving you TUD! As I get older, I’m learning (often the hard way) that there are some things that you should fork out the bucks for. Otherwise, you could end up spending a whole heap more down the track to fix what was ruined by cutting costs. Tooth enamel is one of those things.

I would not do the lemon juice approach; it will wear down the enamel on your teeth! Once the enamel is gone, that’s it. It’s not like it grows back, beauties. And brushing your teeth straight after having something acidic in your mouth is not ideal either; the saliva in your mouth will help neutralise the acid. You are actually better off chewing gum after drinking something acidic (this includes soda, cider, beer, anything fizzy) before then brushing your teeth.

How do I know? My dentist gave me a very serious sit down after my braces came off.

If your teeth are extremely discoloured, save your pennies and get them done professionally (not at a beautician’s but at a dentist). There is an excellent dentist in Brisbane who does Zoom, your moulds and gives you the aftercare in one lump sum, and you can get a discount if you do a particular day (their low attendance day). If you are in another city, I am sure you will find a similar provider. Also, if you have private medical, it is covered if you see a dentist to get your teeth professionally whitened.

You will need to have your teeth scaled and cleaned first, then wait a few days, and then get your teeth whitened (this is to reduce gum sensitivity).

I did this before my wedding and it was the best possible thing I could have done. And it was much cheaper than I could have thought. I haven’t had to do it since; I just maintain using over the counter products. My teeth are excellent because I look after them.

Do the right thing, not the cheap thing.

Oil pulling, as much of a pain as it is; is super effective! I use tablespoon of coconut oil and swish it around for about 15-20 minutes, and it works really well! With that being said, lemon juice and bicarb soda mixed into a thick paste is also quite effective, although it tastes awful. If you use the lemon juice method, remember to use your normal toothpaste and brush your teeth straight after, so your enamel isn’t damaged by the acid
    Hope this helps!
