Oral B Electric Toothbrush

Ok so it seems as though my old identity and content is not able to be redeemed. I have spent the last 24 hours going through the products and putting up new reviews on things I use or have used 🙂

I thought if i go through it all alphabetically i can keep track of it all easier. Wow amazing all the products up for review that i never noticed before!

Anyhow I got to O and Oral B popped up.

I haven’t used those electric toothbrushes, but obviously the Glosscar winner last year caught my eye LOL

The triumph 5000 wireless smartguide.

In the past when they first came out I did own an electric toothbrush and whilst it was ok, certainly wasn’t anything to write home about. I don’t even recall what brand it was back then?!

Anyhow I was reading about the Triumph and the oral care 7000 and 8500 and I am unsure what the real difference is??

The triumph seems to come with a whitening polishing head as well? but they all seem to have the 40,000 and 8800 oscillating action?

I can get the Triumph for a similar price to the 8500 from the shaver shop.

Any feedback? I am happy to spend the extra on a good toothbrush and i do like the idea of it giving a flossing action as well!

I purchased an Oral B Triumph 7000 after reading the review here. When it arrived I put batteries in the Smartguide that came with the toothbrush only to find the LCD display to be scrambled. So I took the whole lot back to the shop where the brilliant staff offered a replacement / refund. While I was there the staff tested other units in the shop (which were on display) and discovered all had the same fault – a garbled LCD display. A quick call to another shop in the same chain and we discovered their Smartguide also had the same LCD fault.

I recommend beauty heaven readers interested in this Oral B product test the Smartguide before purchasing as I reckon Oral B have a systemic fault with their product.

I haven’t tried Sonicare but just wanted to say that my Oral B is still going strong! I think it really helps with my gums and teeth sensitivity issues as long as I use it properly and don’t rush. I got a big tick from the Dentist as well.

Availability and cost of brush heads influenced my decision to choose Oral B over the Sonicare but I am sure Sonicare is very good.

I’m currently using my third electric toothbrush which is DiamondClean from Sonicare product line.

It’s a little bit expensive, but it’s currently the best sonic toothbrush on the market (according to http://www.bestelectrictoothbrushhub.com ). I never used Oral B oscillating ones mainly because my dentist recommended me Philips Sonicare right from the start, but I guess they are both similar devices with different technology, but same effect. Philips heads are a little bit more expensive than Oral B ones, but that’s probably all.

Did anyone try both Oral B and Sonicare toothbrushes?

I have the Phillips Sonicare with the sanitising autoclave. It is AMAZING. Expensive but has helped with my problematic gums, so much.

I have an Oral B Professional Care and although it gives a really good clean, it is quite rough on my sensitive teeth and gums.

I use the cheaper Vitality range (http://www.beautyheaven.com.au/dental/toothbrushes-dental-floss/14284-oral-b-oral-b-vitality-precision-clean/reviews) but use the sensitive brush heads. Much harder to find and a bit more expensive but I think they’re worth it if you have sensitive teeth. My teeth are so much whiter since I started using an electric toothbrush. My whole household use the Oral B Vitality ones so we keep 2 chargers in the bathroom and switch the 3 toothbrushes around so they’re always charged. The handles get so dirty though, I wouldn’t want to use anyone elses handle!

You’ve reminded me that I need to start reviewing again.

I have an Oral B one – I can’t remember what model it is but it was over $100. It has a pressure sensor and it came with a fancy plastic stand to hold various brush heads. Anyhow, mine came with a sample of all the different heads you can use and honestly I just use the regular brush head. I tried the others but I’m not convinced they were that special and I didn’t like the idea of having multiple heads on the go all the time.

The clean feeling from this toothbrush is unreal. So awesome. I convinced my BF to get one. He got the 7000 model (think it was $99) and he loves his! I feel like my teeth are less sensitive from using this toothbrush as well. Mine has lasted quite a while too. I looked into getting the Philips one but I’m glad I didn’t as the refills seem hard to find.

    I got the Smartguide 5000 today! 😀

It’s currently charging! The guy at Myer was not overly friendly, think he might need to learn some lessons in smiling LOL they price matched the shaver shop, so my Mum got the points on her Myer 1 card. She has sent me a duplicate card so she can gain more points on her card 🙂

Just as I was about to pay i casually commented these are a good machine aren’t they?
He said not really, the philips is better.
    I was like oh??
Mind you i have also read up on different styles so perhaps the philips is better, but i know the Triumph 5000 smartguide rates up there in the top 10 as well!
I said oh really? so its not a good machine?
He said well its not that its a bad machine, but we sell more philips. That’s what we base what is best on, what we sell more of.

I said oh righto then, and how much do they cost? oh they are pricier.
I said ok I will just stick to the one I have here, I have read about it and I don’t can’t be bothered over-thinking it all now LOL
He said oh you will get 3-4 years out of this one.

I asked if he uses a philips?
he said in his haughty tone No,
    Oral B?
sigh no i don’t use an electric brush at all, i have no need for one.

Then he tried to convince me that I need a regular brush head as well, the flossing or polishing can’t be used on their own! You must use the standard one first, then the polishing or flossing one. I asked if they could price match the shavershop he looked and said no sorry they are selling them cheaper than we are buying them for.

I just smiled and paid for it and left LOL

Went to the shaver shop and the guy said yeh the philips is slightly better but the Oral b is a damn good machine, you can’t go wrong with the triumph 5000 smartguide! The philips is also pricier and really the oral b will give you an excellent clean anyway.

I asked about the standard flossing head. He said no just get either the flossing or the standard, or the polishing, they will all clean your teeth, it just depends on what you want out of it!
When i told him i had been told at Myer I need the standard and the others are to be used in conjunction with the flossing or polishing one, the guy laughed and said definitely not!

The box it came in didnt have the standard so i almost got ripped off with getting a standard one as well!!!

I guess the guy at myer figured he had to somehow make up for the price match LOL
Luckily they couldn’t price match the heads!!! LOL

I have an electric tooth brush and i do love it as well. I have the one handle and base. But have different heads… And each head has a different color band on it so no one uses anyone elses. And after i use mine i make sure i take off the head i use and i have a lovely glass jar; thats just the right size to stand the other head in. And well done on all that you wrote.

Yes, it’s weird that there isn’t a stand for both handles. Check in-store though in case it’s changed. It’s a bit confusing when you read the specs, but the AA batteries are for the timer/clock. The toothbrush just uses the charger. I’ve had mine since Christmas and the batteries in the timer are still running fine.

The extra $30 is probably worth it as the 3 extra heads that come with the dual toothbrush version would cost about $30 to buy.
