Do people always spell your name wrong?

Hi beauties,

We’ve been having a bit of a chuckle in the office this morning about people misspelling our names.

My name is often spelt Sheree instead of Cherie, and one R or one N always gets left off my surname, which is spelt Herrmann.

Carli often finds people spell her name with a Y instead of an I, and little ol’ beautyheaven even gets spelt beautyhaven sometimes.

Do people ever misspell your name? Does it annoy you? Or do you just laugh when it happens like we do?

CH x

my surname is a pickle for anyone to pronounce. its a typical european surname with 11 letters. everytime i have to spell it for some one i have to repeat over. i have meet only one person who wasnt from my back ground that actually pro nounced it perfect. made my day! also hearing the airline staff over the speaker trying to say some of the oddest passenger surnames and you can hear them struggling a little and a little laugh . poor airline workers.

I have a polish friend who has a very tricky lastname with many J’s and K’s and she always has her last name misspelt. I have never been so thankful to have a short but simple last name but at times I also have to spell it out!! You can never win! Haha

This thread has cracked me up!
Sorry for giggling at your annoying experiences, but hey, at least you’re not alone, right?

I don’t mind when people get my surname Hitchins wrong, it’s more often than not that it is spelt Hitchens or Hutchins, easy mistakes. What really annoys me is when I have filled out a form, and it is still documented incorrectly. The kids’ pre school and now school often spell their last name Hitchens on certificates and reports, drives me crazy.

They’ve done this on our bulding contracts. Both my partners and my name is spelt wrong and despite correcting them numerous time, all the documentation comes back wrong…how many times do you have to tell someone! lol

It is so frustrating when thing like this are spelled incorrectly on official documents!
Even after filling in other forms with the correct spelling.
    Drives me crazy!

I mean, seriously, how hard is it to copy what has been written down!! Grrr!

You would be surprised how often my name gets spelt wrong. I wouldn’t have thought there would be that many variations of ‘Hayley’

I’m Kellie – always gets spelt with a y instead. My surname is Irish & has a silent h in it. I have to spell it & say the whole name every time.

    Jaqueline
    Jacqline
    Jacline
    Jackaline
    Jaclin

    I’ve had them all 😉

My surname has ‘u’ and ‘o’, with the u coming before the o but it’s I always always see ‘ou’!

The real fun is when they try to pronounce ‘Jacqueline’!

Doesn’t annoy me at all – I don’t expect everyone to be French spelling whizzes 🙂

Oh my gosh you and me both, and my own family can’t even get it right, haha!
All the time at work when I’m telling suppliers my name, I’ve given up caring why it makes a difference on spelling my name correctly, but they always insist!
I’m a Jacqueline, but I go by Jacqui.
    I’ve had it all ways:
    Jackie
    Jacki
    Jacquie
    Jaqui
    Jaquie

My surname also ways trips people up, mostly the pronounciation. Mathers, pronounced like May-therz
I get all sorts as well, and people always think the “r” is an “i”! Not sure how!

Beauty_Jem – did you ever live @ Kogarah (about 16 years ago)? If you did, I think I was your neighbour!!
