Dental Mouthguard for nighttime

I’m looking at having a dental mouth guard fitted for nighttime to prevent me grinding my teeth in my sleep (something I’ve always done since I was a child) to possibly help stop me from getting migraines.
I think I may have (or am on my way to getting) TMD (temporomandibular disorder) which involves arthritic joints due to clenching the jaw, leading to tightened muscles & daily pain such as migraine. I’ve suffered from migraines for many years.
Has anybody else had this problem?
Did the mouth guard help? About how much did you pay for it?
Thank you.

Oh that’s terrible. I’m sorry about that.
Thanks for the advice. I will try to get a referral… Hopefully it’s not too difficult. I’ve heard it can be. And expensive too.

I’ve got TMJ dysfunction from a car accident, & I’ve mentioned I get migraines too. I sleep with a bite splint made by prosthodontists at Westmead hospital. Try to get a referral to a hospital pain clinic.

I clench my jaws when asleep and sometimes wake up with a headache because of this and most morning I have to loosen my jaw because I’ve clenched it tightly.

I’ve been using the plastic mouth guards that you can get at the chemists, they’re the sports ones, which can be molded to a person’s teeth shape by placing in hot water (there’s instructions on the package). Cost is under $10

These work for me, but they make it uncomfortable to sleep sometimes, but I got used to it.

In my case, stress had a lot to do with it, so I try to deal with that.

My dentist did say that they can make moulds for my teeth but I think it was a couple of $100 so I didn’t do it. I may do this in the future, not sure.
Sorry, I’m not much help, hope you get some relief with this pain.
