Is Home Waxing Legs Doable?

Today I got maybe the worst shaving bumps I’ve ever gotten after having used the blade on my razor only one other time. I’m just so sick of it! I swear having the bumps on my thighs is making my stretch marks stay red and not fade.
I’m not sure if I should spend my meager part time money to get pro waxing or try it at home. My previous home attempts were on my armpits,, bikini area, and arms. The first two areas bled and were very sore for maybe 30 minutes after.. needless to say I’m not to keen to home wax again but shaving really sucks.

I wanted to bump this thread because I got a Braun Epilator. I’ve used it once on my legs. But I’m not sure about it. I couldn’t remove most of the hair even though I hadn’t shaved in maybe a week (hair was at least half length). Removed about 70% of calf hair, maybe 10% of thigh hair. But my legs still feel stubblyish like I haven’t shaved in a few days. I tried going slow, going fast, went over it a lot!! I don’t know how this could be a substitute for shaving 🙁

I’ve been wondering how you got on.
The Braun epilator is best used on _short_ hair!
*Jane P* knows what she’s doing. I’m loath to use talc for fear of jamming up my epilator. I used to own an epilady, an ancient precursor to the epilators of today, it had a coil & it was seriously painful. I used talc with the epilady & it really helped the coil get a grip on the hair.
After years, my hair is noticeably sparser & weaker, which means the pain is much less. I love my Braun epilator – God I hated that epilady!
You’ll get the hang of it.

    Hmm really?
Because the hair on the underside of my thigh is shorter from breaking of from friction and it could get any of it. But it’s’ also hard to find the way the hair lays on my thigh. But nevertheless I couldn’t even get much hair from the top of my thigh.
That looks like some kind of torture device..

The epilady WAS some kind of torture device.
Do you have a setting on your epilator for fine hair & regular?
Did you epilate after a bath/shower as soon as you’d dried off?
Did you pull the skin a bit like *Jane P* suggested?
There’s a knack to it, but it’s not difficult to master, it just takes a few times.

    Haha.
There’s a normal setting and a setting that makes it spin faster and is supposed to be more precise, I’ve only been using the normal setting.
No haven’t tried after shower.. I’ll do that tomorrow/today. Did try pulling the skin a bit, not sure it helped. I am gonna try again though I worry that then some hair will grow back before the rest and I’ll forever have hair growing unevenly

I think I’ve identified your problem: I ONLY epilate straight out of the shower or bath. You can’t have any oils, even the natural oils on your skin. It will make a big difference in the ability of the tweezers to grip the hair.
Your hair is always in different stages of growth & dormancy, you’ll never synchronise the hair growth of all the hair on your legs.
    Try high speed.

I should try it right out of the shower…But it seems to be a lot easier, if more painful on long hair.
I epilated my arms this evening, and though the pain was IMMENSE, my arms are now almost 100% hair free 😀

I used to get a massive endorphin rush after all that pain. I don’t get that any more, not as much pain, more just a level of discomfort, hence no endorphins.
You’re obviously getting the hang of it.

lol. your conversation actually reminded me of monica and phoebe in friends using waxene.

    Ha ha!
Has anyone seen Mrs Brown’s Boys? there’s an episode where Mrs Brown waxes her bikini line.
    Scary!

    Yup, that one was FUNNY!!!

I epilate at any old time but I’ve been doing it for years, I do find that for my underarms though they need to be clean from deodorant and dry so a little while after a shower is good. Also I’ve never used talc/powder on my legs but I have for my underarms if it’s really hot and I can’t get the skin dry enough, if your underarms aren’t dry the epilator can kind of jump around and grab skin as the surface you’re moving it over needs to be smooth and dry.
