Dry and itchy winter skin

Hi Everyone,

The weather is getting cold, and I found the skin on my legs starts to itch at night when I sleep. I use Aveeno, it seems to help.

Does anyone have the same problem? what products do you use to sooth the itching at night?

Thank you.

I absolutely agree with the suggestions of oils such as almond oil, coconut oil, olive oil and avocado oil. Just ensure these are cold pressed, otherwise you skin will not be able to absorb them, and the nutrients of the oils will be destroyed. Try organic to where possible.

For my extremely dry winter skin, I usually use a salt or sugar scrub in the shower twice a week to scrub away the dead skin. I also use exfoliating gloves daily with an extra nourishing body wash (I use natural instincts soothing body wash). After you’ve patted yourself dry out of the shower, use coconut oil or a natural soothing lotion (I am currently loving Australian Pure Beauty Sorbolene). You will really feel the difference!

I’ve recently tried macademia oil (from thursday plantation) it is also very hydrating! The only thing is that the lavender in it is a bit much for me.

Me too , but only if its very cold . Use a non scent cream eg dermal therapy lotion , sorbelene creams , QV, shea butter , etc as they are soothing and relives itching and dryness . Stay away from high frgrance products . I wear bed soxs now as feet gets cold too .

I was also going to suggest coconut oil. I also use it as a hair treatment, cleanser and body moisturiser. A little goes a long way. Use a small amount on your legs before going to bed.

    Hi Valerie844: I don’t have this problem, so I can’t offer advice, but …

Oh YES!!! I use ALMOND OIL from In Essence which around $10 a bottle and it lasts for ages, but I don’t think the brand matters all that much. I add a few drops of lavender essential oil into the bottle.

I have used everything else on the planet (Sukin, MOR, Crabtree, Loccitane, Nivea, Clinique, Dove, you name it!) and nothing works as good as oil especially in the evening.

Dermaveen! I use the oil at night in the bath then the lotion after that. I tried Aveeno, didn’t do much for the dry itchiness, but the Dermaveen worked well.
