I never win or get to trial anything!

I’ve been with BH for a while now, currently have 557 loyalty points which gives me ‘beauty fanatic’ status… I’ve posted a few reviews here and there, been active in the forums etc. The only thing I ever won was at the beginning of my membership… since then, nothing.

I also joined DDGDaily, Primped and Rescu… and have won several prize packs and got to trial 2 products from all of them.

What’s the go?
Thanks xx

I’ve been a member for over 5 years now and only just got accepted into the trial team. I realised that you really have to be thorough with your reviews, cover ALL aspects of the product eg packaging, smell, feel, application, texture, staying power, size, design, composition etc

You have to remember, other women like us are coming on BH to read what other women think of the products they have tried before. When I read product reviews, its the really informative ones I find most helpful. Writing 3-4 lines about how much you loved or hated a product isn’t good enough for me. Because every women is different, I might like something about a product you may hate. That’s why when I write my reviews, I tend to stay as objective as I can, covering all aspects of the product so women can get the most information. I then write a paragraph of the overall thoughts on the product eg if i loved or hated it.

    Example

“I really didn’t like this foundation, it made my skin oily. I was colour matched in store but then I noticed afterwards that the colour was too dark and it was too expensive”

    VS

“This foundation has been created for people with dry skin, so because of this, it tends to be a more ‘heavy’ foundation as it is an oil-based formula that is super moisturizing. As I have a ‘combination/oily’ skin type, this wasn’t suited to me.

The foundation applies beautifully at first, with a flawless coverage and matched perfect with my skin tone. However, I did notice that throughout the day the foundation oxidised to a darker colour. I think this is because it is also a mineral foundation and mineral foundation tends to oxidise on my skin. Opt for a shade lighter than your skin when choosing a colour.

The price was a little higher than average for a ‘drug-store’ foundation, retailing at $39.95. While I am fine with spending this money on a drug-store foundation, it may not be as accessible to all people.

Overall, I have enjoyed other foundations more than this one for the price. I would probably not buy this product again, but it may suit other women who suffer from dry skin.”

When I started writing reviews like this I felt better about the information I was giving other women, as this is the kind of information I would like to hear about a product. I knew then that once I applied I would be accepted because I was really starting to write quality reviews 🙂

I had to wait for about half a year from being accepted into trial team to actually getting invites so be patient. They will eventually come!

Well, if you don’t ask you don’t get, which raises an interesting point for Scarlett_Angel. When was the last time you had sent in an application email for the trial team?

I applied for the Trial Team donkey’s years ago. I never received a confirmation or any email invitations. By the time I see the forum posts, it’s always a page long – too late! I recently re-applied for the Trial Team, because I suspect I wasn’t put on the list in the first place. I’ve been regretting it since. What if I have been on the list all this time? I’m going to look like I’m harassing them for a trial.

Hey Scarlett_Angel, good for you for raising your concerns. Many of our compatriots have made some excellent suggestions, such as revisiting your profile to see whether it is up to date with your current beauty regime and concerns.

I know it can be disheartening when you enter a competition for an item you know you could really use (and would appreciate) but the odds are high. There are a lot of us now! I won’t enter a competition for baby items for example, as that would be plain hypocritical! And keep writing! With all your studies, you know you can absolutely smash out some excellent product reviews!

I have faith in you, and I am optimistic enough to know your time will come.

    Big cuddles x

I have been lucky to win a few prizes and have also been sent the occasional sample to try………I get so excited when this happens, but for me it is also the great articles, reviews and tips which is my main reason for being a BH member, I love it
