Phillip Hughes, Australian Cricketer dies

It’s very sad news that Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes, aged 25, has passed away due to a horrible incident during play.

My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

It’s a horrible reminder that life is so short. Take care everyone. I’m shocked and saddened because I follow cricket and regardless, it is just terrible news.

It makes me realise, yet again, how precious and how unpredictable life really is – and makes me even more grateful for my healthy, living family that I still have. He had so much going for him! I feel for his parents very much too.

This is incredibly sad and I was shocked when I found out about it as I’d hoped he would pull through, even if the circumstances weren’t real good.

I am a cricket fan (a rare female one at that it seems, aside from CB) & whilst I never watched him play in person, I watched him play on TV & whilst he was rather unorthodox & frustrating to watch at times, I do feel that there was something special about him and I know he was almost a shoo-in to play in the 1st Test this summer. I do think he could’ve nailed down a Test position within the next few years had he lived. By all accounts he was well loved within the cricketing community both here & overseas & I know there has been and will continue to be an outpouring of grief and support as everyone rallies around each other.

I also feel for Sean Abbott, the guy who bowled the ball that struck Phil. I just hope he realises that none of this is his fault & that he continues getting support well after this moment passes because I truly fear for his state of mind, both at present and for the future.

RIP Phil, you will be sorely missed. :o(

I’m not one to watch the cricket, but this tragedy is so sad. A life taken way too early.

An absolute tragedy. Deepest sympathy to his family and friends. My thoughts are also with the bowler who delivered the ball. A tragic accident, not his fault at all. A very sad situation all round.

I just heard this on the radio and I was very shocked too! Life is indeed very precious and you can never know what’s around the corner. We take so much for granted and think that we have all the time in the world, but you just never know. Enjoy every moment and every little pleasure that life has to offer, beauties!
