NSW – Bondi or Manly?

Hi girls,

Do you like Bondi or Manly better? Where would you rather live in between the 2?

I’d live near Manly and stay clear of the hustle and bustle of Bondi with tourists and that (not that I dislike tourists…)

Ive lived in the northern beaches most of my life so id definitely pick Manly but further up the hill so you get less noise although i did live close to Balgowlah shops on the main road and have a bottle thrown thru my window in the wee hours of the night.
They are trying to make Manly respectable again which is nice. Otherwise DeeWhy is nice not as crowded and has a great selection of restaurants and is 1 bus ride away from Manly. DeeWhy is also a heck of a lot cheaper property wise.

Sorry didn’t see your 2nd post re the split. Why not move further up the peninsula to somewhere like Collaroy or Narrabeen? Narrabeen is great with the lake and the ocean.

I’m biased as I live on the Nth beaches, but definitely would chose Manly. Is a much prettier beach than Bondi, not as built up etc. And although a tourist attraction is not as easy to get to as Bondi for most travellers so it doesn’t get as busy.

My in-laws live on the northern beaches so we go to manly a bit during the summer and it is also packed – though not as bad as bondi. I think i saw on bondi rescue the day last summer when it got to 45odd degrees there were over 40,000 people on the beach that day and the surf was ridiculous…but then we went freshwater that day and it was just as packed.

I am thinking of what the corso is like, or around the manly wharf and on a nice day in summer they are always packed.

I’d pick manly over bondi but thats mostly because i am more familiar with it. Even though ive lived in sydney my whole life i have only been to bondi a handful of times…it seems more touristy to me. i suppose bondi is also further – takes me an hour to get there compared with about 25 mins to manly

I definately think Bondi is busier in the summer…. but I suppose if u r single ull love lots of eye candy in bondi anyhow….but if u want to move away u will still enjoy Manly 😉 I think I would be more of a manly girl if i was in NSW and had to choose.

I live in Bondi at the moment and we just split up with my partner so i feel like moving somewhere new. Bondi is soo busy with summer coming but i guess that Manly would be the same…

I would love to live in Manly – it’s so pretty out there and it’s not as busy as Bondi. I would say Bondi is more for people who like to go out and have fun while Manly is quieter and more easy going…
