New Day Box for Women Suffering from Domestic Violence

I just saw that there is a New Day Box drive in Melbourne on the 16 November 2017. 6pm – 8.30pm at Envato. Tickets are free, includes speakers from New Day and Safe Steps.

We have collection boxes at work for donations of beauty products, toiletries, clothing for domestic violence prevention week and white ribbon day. It started earlier in the week but I need to check how long it goes for as I’m planning on donating quite a few things.

Thanks for the reminder! I did this last year and have been collecting bits and pieces during the year to make up boxes again this year. Will start getting them in order to send off next month. 🙂

There is an awesome initiative that was started two years ago called New Day Box. Volunteers collect shoe boxes of new beauty products for women that have escaped domestic violence. They do this just before Christmas. When women leave a violent situation and enter a shelter, they often leave with nothing but the clothes that they’re wearing. I have been told by someone that went into a shelter that all that she was given were the basics such as a comb and a bar of soap.

I have been checking their website, waiting to see when their new collection days are in Melbourne. They have scheduled their collection dates from 14 to 28 November. If you live interstate, you can post boxes of products to them. Here is a link to their website and Facebook page:

I have sent beauty boxes in previous years, and I’ve been buying products in anticipation for this year’s project. The New Day Box initiative is such a beautiful cause.

I just had a look at the Facebook page for the New Day Box initiative. I was so excited to see all the boxes of beauty products that they collected over the last couple of days (current tally is 360 boxes). For anyone interested, here is the link:
