Love thy neighbour?
Oh thank heavens, a place to rant! It’s my neighbours. I’m sandwiched between two of the world’s worst neighbours. Can’t get a good night’s sleep. Between Mr. Fort-Knox on the one side and Mr. We-Bought-A-Zoo on the other, I’m bombarded with flashes of light all night long and horrific animal screeching all day long. My bedroom goes from pitch black to ‘This is the FBI, we’ve got you surrounded’ type light all night, On/Off… On/Off. I can’t open the windows during the day because my neighbour’s (probably illegal) zoo makes such a horrendous noise all day that I get a piercing headache.
I have equipped myself with an eye mask, ear plugs and multiple fans, meditation techniques – but how about some damn decency here, people? I have politely asked both of them to reduce the noise/blinding light, not because I’m a lousy neighbour, but because I have chronic migraines and am home ALL day every day, in and out of hospitals and doctors, and I would LOVE to have just one nice, cool, quiet, dark night in my own home.
Up until now, I’ve had fantastic neighbours, neighbours that became friends, even as we moved across the world, we’ve kept in touch. Now, THIS! A double-whammy.
