Leggings Problems for Big Booty Girls

I find that leggings I wear always become very stretched on in the butt. They often get small holes in the seams and I have to sew them. And with most leggings that aren’t thicker fabric they’re see-thru. I usually buy medium because I’m not big (5’8, size 6 or 7 US) but… should I go large at the risk of having to always hike them up? Or are there miraculous durable leggings out there? Anyone else have this probllem?

Can I suggest not leggings? Most leggings are cheaply made and you really get what you pay for. Try a pair of skinny fit ponte pants instead. A bit thicker and able to stand up to wear better. Just my personal peeve about the whole leggings as pants thing, they aren’t intended to be that durable, why not just go for proper pants that will be?

Cathy, can you recommend a good stockist of slim/skinny ponte pants? I have been hunting for decently made pair for months and have been unable to find any.

I also believe in the whole leggings are not pants mantra (I remember seeing it as a bumper sticker once,) but sometimes a pair of skinny fit black leg coverings that aren’t made of denim just work.

I’m plus size so I got mine from Autograph earlier in the season. I would suggest somewhere like Katies. Something like this:

    or this:

which although not ponte specifically would be made from a good quality fabric.

Target even had some ponte pants a couple of months ago.

They also seem to have these things called scuba pants which I’m not sure about the fabric but could suit:

If you want to see why I hate leggings, look at this! Even though they are ponte they suffer from the dreadful knicker show on the back! A thicker fabric wouldn’t have that problem.

(sorry about the Katies links going stupid, I think it’s the hyphen)

Ohhh hm that’s a good point. I do like ponte pants and the like… They are less casual looking and warmer.

I don’t wear leggings, but I have lots of problems finding tall enough stockings, And i have a big booty so that just makes things worse haha

You’re getting stockings & pantyhose mixed up. Stockings require a suspender belt. I’m a skirt person, (so comfy!) & I wear stockings a lot! They take some getting used to, but once you do, you can go all day. I’ve got an assortment of suspender belts, the best ones have more than 2 hooks on each side.
Our grandmothers didn’t have pantyhose – they managed.
In winter I wear leggings or tights with a skirt.
Stockings make a great date option!

I think nowadays, these items have different names but we usually all know what they mean. I call pantyhose, stockings but they are actually referred to as tights (the Aus term), whilst I actually call leggings, tights.

Monique have you checked out the ‘Curvaceous’ line by Razzamatazz? They are available at Big W, you might have some luck with those!

I agree, most leggings are made to wear under other items, such as dresses and skirts. I hate the leggings as pants fad! I have a great pair of pants from Target that are quite durable and thick, but are way more comfortable then jeans! I think you should look for a pant rather than leggings, the brand Pink Hornet has suggested sounds great. I’m going to check those out now.

I have discovered Lysse leggings. They are not cheap, around the hundred mark but they are genius.
Some are ponte, some are cotton and some are shaped like pants. They are shapewear infused leggings. They last, they are thick and wash well. The tight ones are so supportive and help when my circulation is poor. They gove me a waist and best of all they seem to lift my rear and make my lumpy bits look like lady lumps.
Danniro they are also available form Amazon. Here in Oz the easiest way to pick them up is from TVSN.
