I AM OVER SEEING ALL THIS SPAM!

I hate seeing ones that ‘pretend’ they’re giving some helpful advice & all they’re doing is flogging off their own website. One recently even challenged why they were spotted as a spammer, I replied back exactly why they fit the mould – never heard from them after that!

These spammers are everywhere. They like to ruin a good thing. I enjoy my time on here but it can be a little annoying having to find legitimate posts in the forum to give some advice back and get to know other BH members. Hopefully it can be more controlled.

Any idea how 4 new forum topics have been created today? Check the NEW TOPICS.
Two are definitely SPAM – Coffee and Tea for weight loss. I can’t create a new topic so how have these got around it?

Don’t know but as someone who primarily only has the time to get on here during late evening or weekends, it’s frustrating not to be able to post a new topic. In saying that I understand the need to control the spammers.

My guess would be that the way that new topics are being prevented is to remove the “new topic” link from the forums, without actually disabling the code within the site that allows for new topics to be posted. If you bookmarked the link during the week when it was available, you could then use that bookmark to post new topics during the weekend…

If that’s what is happening, and a spammer has bookmarked that link, they will be able to post new spam at any time. 🙁

It feels like a constant battle against spam, kind of like cockroaches.
On a happier note I have the Monty Python “Spam” song stuck in my brain.

*Jackie, you’re a WONDER!!! Thank you SOOO much.* I did something I don’t normally do and emailed Jackie not long after 6 am this morning about the feral spam and it’s been dealt with. I do hate contacting Jackie personally on the weekend but the latest spam was out of control. She emailed straight back, as she usually does.

I do know how irritating it is and so much seems to have been done to eliminate it but total elimination looks like it might be impossible. Thank heaven that the BH team, from Jackie down are as annoyed by it as we are and fix it as soon as possible. Once more – *Thank you, Jackie.*

Glad I wasn’t on the forums last night. It would have driven me insane with 81 spam posts from 2 users! I do like AJ’s suggestion above and wish it could be implemented and thank you for that explanation of SEO.
