To all the bunnies that have been lost: I weep for your tender souls. To all the generous people who have taken in bunnies: I admire your bravery. And really appreciate the warning about how fragile they are. I had no idea. This bunny lover will have to love from afar. I don’t have your strength to let go a beloved pet after only a few months.

My son has mini lops and I would recommend them for children. They are a bit bigger than dwarf rabbits and easier to handle and they are really cuddly and placid. I think they are a much nicer pet especially for kids.

Awwwwwwwwww how adorable they are soooooo cute. But they are very fragile little creatures, my eldest daughter had one and we were continously at the vets. We created for her the cutest little home, fed her well and kept her clean but at 4 months old our precious little Buffy died 🙁 and we are not sure why, broke my daughters little heart and mine.

Yeah I’ve had a few but like BM said they don’t seem to survive as long as dogs or cats. My friend has had a few over a couple of years for her son and all have passed on, with no apparent reason. It was really hard for her boy.
They do make lovely pets for children, as long as they know to be careful.
I bought my 4yr old daughter goldfish last week and one passed away 3days ago, it got stuck between the plant and water filter pipe, poor thing.. I didn’t have the heart to tell her it passed on so she thinks it’s at the hospital getting better til I can find a look-alike to substitute.

I’m sorry to hear about your little fishy. Fish don’t have 3 second memory’s like some people may think. They remember things long term. If you put your fingers up at the top of the tank and pretend your putting food out for them, they will still think your giving them food and rise to the top. Awwww..

It’s great to re-home a pet though.Like re-homing a pet from the rspca or any shelter. You give it a new lease on life. Even if it may be a year or so then at least it had a chance to live rather than be put to sleep.

I know some horrible people get sick of their rabbits so let them go in a park or grassy area. Only 10% released into the wild survive so it’s sad to think of all the pet bunny’s being released then dying so quickly out there in the cold. 🙁 I shouldn’t think about these things, it just makes me sad as I have no control over it.

I think rabbits are adorable, but it’s their short lifespan and their sometimes fragile health that prevents me from having one. Even as an adult it breaks my heart just to think of a pet passing away.

Yeah, it’s really difficult dealing with things like that, I was 14 when my first rabbit died.
My bunny is also an indoor rabbit, and I’ve had two in my life. My first one died when he was about 6 or 7 after I had him for 5 years, he was roughly 2 when I adopted him off a friend. My current one is about 5-6 as I said earlier, it seems like i’ve been pretty lucky.

A quick pet store consultation might be helpful I think.
I’m sure that they can help in recommending the right animal and advising if a rabbit is better suited or not, etc.

Oh no bkackmagic that’s horrible, now you have me thinking, I would hate for my sons to go through that. This will be my eldest first real pet, we do have a dog and 9 fish but this would be his own little bunny. I would hate it if something did happen to the bunny.

Oh no now I don’t know what to do?? :/ we are meant tone meeting him on Sunday!??
Phillip the rabbit Is an indoor rabbit and always has been he only goes outside for about 2 hours everyday to have a hop around.

    Awww, that’s adorable!!
I’ve found that if you get an older rabbit it takes a while for them to readjust to things. Just make sure he’s properly taken care of and loved and he shouldn’t be a problem. 🙂
If you do adopt, would you mind posting a picture? I’m slightly obsessed with rabbits hahahaa!

Hehe I sure will reibun we get to meet him on Sunday!!
