Choc cravings

What is the best way to beat chocolate cravings. I’m having them every day and it’s so hard to resist. Not good but do it anyway. Doesn’t help that the sales at supermarkets are always in the junk food aisles!!!

These are great suggestions, but nothing beats chocolate craving like a family block of chocolate.

I crave chocolate too, in particular before my cycle starts. And I take magnesium every day, but I’ve still got cravings!

Thanks for the replies. Yes I know dark choc is better for me. Although I prefer dairy chocolate I guess it’s better choosing a healthier option to curb those cravings so may need to try this more often than dairy chocolate which I love. 🙂

Dark chocolate reduces stress because stress = higher levels of cortisol. Dark chocolate is supposed to be know to increase “feel good” levels of serotonin which in turn reduces cortisol. For dark chocolate to be effective, the chocolate should be at least 70% of cocao/cocoa. Magnesium reduces tension, which might explain why people crave chocolate when they need more magnesium 🙂

Try dark chocolate which is at least healthier than milk chocolate and look for one with a high percentage of cocoa. Drink water when you feel the urge to eat chocolate, it will fill you up or eat something healthy like almonds instead which are also filling but full of protein.

Yet I’ve read that cinnamon is great at keeping the sugar cravings at bay, sprinkle on low fat yoghurt

Have some yoghurt or something sweetish to satisfy the sweet tooth?

You could try eating vegan chocolate? I find using a chocolate flavoured protein powder helps with my cravings. Get one that is low in carbs.

There are reasons we crave certain types of food and they say that when we crave chocolate we are probably lacking magnesium. Foods high in it are nuts, seeds, fish, bananas and greens. An alternative to milk chocolate is dark chocolate which is high in magnesium too.
Another reason could be the sugar in it you crave which might be caused by low blood sugar levels or lack of protein in the diet
High stress can stimulate the adrenal glands to produce cortisol also causes sweet cravings.
It also might just be because chocolate is so good! lol But there are so many healthy alternatives these days so just try and stock up on the healthier options to curb your cravings.

    Good luck 🙂
