Beauty Therapy diploma courses

Hey, I need some advice. I am in grade 12 in 2015, but I want to start my diploma of beauty therapy during my grade 12 year. I am undecided about two colleges. AIAS and AICD does anyone have any knowledge of either of the two colleges? Both are vet fee approved and in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, but its my first big decision and I dont want to make a mistake. Any help would be wonderful! 😀

I’m thinking she may be doing Vcal (that is what it’s called here in Vic)

4 days of year 12 doing the basic classes. (no exams) Then one day doing a traineeship or course.

Also cert 3 can be done one day a week but Diploma is Full time 5 days or part time 3-4 days.

Have you thought about doing a school based apprenticeship or traineeship through the spa you are currently working at? That way it counts towards your school work as well, so will be a lot easier to juggle. At the end, you’ll come out with work experience and a recognised qualification.

Emily165, you are lucky to have two colleges to choose from. I studied beauty therapy thirty years ago, and at that time there was only one school in the city that I could go to. And to study additional courses in makeup and aromatherapy, I had to travel to another city. Perhaps see a school career guidance counsellor to assist with your decision. I agree with the previous poster; go on a tour to both colleges and see how you feel about them.

I’m a bit confused. You said that you will be in year 12 next year, yet you are already working in a spa. How have you managed to work in a spa whilst studying this year? How will you manage studying beauty therapy next year whilst finishing year 12 and working in a spa? That sounds like a very heavy workload.

As for best Value for money.

As for Diploma you must complete all units in BT so both will offer the same.

Maybe go into both a get a tour and see what place you like and get a good vibe from.

I am not on the GC.

But my number one tip is. Make sure you have a traineeship at a Beauty Salon before or just when you have started.

So many salons want you to have experience once you have done you course. (well Melbourne)
But if your not working in a salon there for you wont have experience.

That’s what made me not get a job in BT everyone wanted experience yet i had none. So i needed a job asap and got what ever I could get.

Thank you, I work in a beauty spa and I have a guranteed job when i finish my diploma. I am just confused over which course is the best value for money.
