I am gaining weight!! Yay! I have gained 2 kgs!

I have been sucking down the water! Had about 600mL today (got a big PUMP from work) and been eating more smaller portions.

I have a HIGH/Extreme metabolism so all this eating is making me feel better on the inside.

And I have been doing some more strength exercises.

Finally today, the scales moved yayyyy. Dr’s appointment on Monday and she wanted me to have at least lost 6kgs….phew, done it, now just have to keep getting more off to go to the next level she will want.
Really hard work when somedays I can’t even get on the treadmill and have to just resort with twisting exercises that I can manage.
Everyone is going so well here, you keep making me stick to my programme.

wow everones weight loss(and gain for those who are putting it on) is very inspirational!

my personal journey is 2 weeks in and this week was much better, I have exercised 6 out of the last 7 mornings including 2 afternoon workouts and 2 afternoon runs of about 10 minutes. i am generally doing a mix of cardio, weights (2kg dumbells), ab work and leg work.
I have been managing my diet alot better and been having low fat milk cheese yoghurt, protein shakes and lots of fresh foods and my meal sizes are much smaller. I had my first coffee in 3 days today. Some nights i have still had a little chocolate or a hot chocolate. so the temptation is still there but i dont give in too much – where i use to eat an entire block of chocolate i now have just a couple of pieces. im also looking at the back of everything and think twice when i see the amount of carbs or sodium or sugars or fat etc.
i am reading alot about nutrition and different exercise and weight loss, im finding it rather interesting. today i also plan to get rid of clothes that are too big now where i was always holding on to them -just in case! now i am encouraged to turf them

I have lost another 1-1.5 kilo (my scales are a bit cheap) its laying somewhere just above 55kgs started at 58-59kgs but there are up to 7 cms lost in my waist and a couple in my bust and thighs!

keep up the good work ladies!!!

My Dad has started his weight loss. He has started at 92kgs. He agreed to go for a walk tomorrow. And we are dusting off the treadmill!! With a goal of about 82kgs.

We have had two people his age have minor heart attacks in the last 2 weeks. One of them was a pilot – and lost his commercial and private pilots licence because of it for 6 months. Dad is a pilot and if he loses his licence, we have only my tiny paycheck to live on. Which would be impossible to live properly on. Only dad and I have a job at the moment, and this kind of hit him hard. This is my little persuasion tool – we can’t live on my $350 a month.

So wish me luck as he dusts his joggers off, gets the treadmill out and starts towards a healthier him!

Week 2 & 3 update (I forgot to do an update last week so will combine them).

Have definitely been eating better and been more aware of what I am eating which is a good thing. For example, on Thursday we were going to Aria for dinner for our birthdays. As this was most likely going to be a once in a lifetime experience, I didn’t want to hold back at dinner so I made sure that I ate really well during the day, only having fruit for lunch, enjoyed dinner, then made sure I ate well the following day.

One thing that I am loving with being part of this challenge is being accountable for what I am eating – I know that if I don’t eat well then I will have to report my lack of progress, so that spurs me on to eat well.

Excerise wasn’t as good as my first week where I amnaged to do something 6/7 days. The last fortnight I would have only exercise on 3/7 days each week. This is partly due to the fact that the majority of my exercise is walking and we have had some pretty cruddy weather the last fortnight – either raining or 35 degress…nothing in between. So this has made me realise that I need to add more exercises that I can do within the home. I have started doing situps whilst holding my bub – he thinks he is going on a fun ride and i am getting the benefits of exercise! I also am trying to sneak in other incidental exercises – such as each time i go to the bathroom I do 10 squats. Its not much but I do feel like it is helping tone me up a bit.

My face is definitely looking slimmer and my legs are looking more toned. As I have to lift a 10kg baby a million times a day my arms are already quite muscular. I am still not happy with the progress I am making on my stomach. It still feels quite flabby to me so I think that I need to concentrate on that a little more. Hopefully I will start to notice some improvement in this area in the next week as it is probably my biggest body concern.

Well I’ve been back on track the last couple of weeks however, I’m still at the 67.5 mark but am still happy that I’ve maintained (given that I’ve been sick and had a few boozy nights out!).

This week my goal is to up the exercise so I’m still doing pretty much the same things but upping the intensity of my work outs. I’ve also been adding cayenne pepper to my salads over lunch to help keep my metabolism running!

I have really noticed since I’ve reduced my portion sizes that even if I try to eat more I actually can’t which is helping!

Hope all of you are having luck with your goals : )

haha – yeah it was pretty amazing! Though I am not sure it was worth the $302 our bill came to!!! We were celebrating both of our 30th bdays, plus hubby won $250 in a footy tipping comp so that meant that we could relax a bit more in regards to the cost. It was definitely the perfect place to go for a special occassion…but unfortunately I don’t think that it si going to become our local!

Oh am totally excited here now. Although having a really bad back this week, I still tried to at least do 5 mins on the treadmill. Dr. is really pleased with my results and yayyyyy don’t have to see her for 9 months now (although she still wants me at 60kg by then).
I still can’t believe that moi (a chocolate every day fanatic), has not had any for 17 weeks (truely amazing for me).
I had thought maybe a treat of chocolate at xmas, but I think if i do that, I might want more so maybe will not go there. That will be a real test. phew.

HELLO Girls!!! Everyone is doing soooo well! I am just back from Gold Coast and it had been such an awesome trip, just me and my man. We do eat out most of the time, but i have always tried to compensate it with swimming for about an hour, intense swimming and i ran in the water too (since the resistance of the water is good for working all parts of the body, especially the lower body parts). I havent weigh myself as i have just gotten back this morning, will do later probably and see how i go. I had been keeping up with my high water intake, fruits and veges intake, and extra exercise especially after dinner. I have seen improvements especially my belly area and it seems flatter.

Everyone is doing great! BQ I read your earlier post about being underweight, I understand as I battled being underweight a few years ago for quite a while, I am out the positive side of it now, if anything I have actually added a little more than healthy so now I’m working on losing a little, toning it and keeping a healthy balance. I wouldn’t stress about it as you seem to have a positive and healthy attitiude to life and are rather active which would keep your metabolism going!
I am doing well, I have kept up my water intake which was basically 0 before starting this fitness and wellbeing challenge. I have kicked the block of chocolate a day habit and totally changed my eating habits. I am not only eatig better but making conscious decisions when shopping so I buy healthier more nutrient filled food. I am exercising more. Admittedly its not a routine that I would be happy with but its more than I was doping before and I havekept it up so i’m proud of myself for that. I haven’t weighed myself yet since my first weigh in at the start of this fitness change because i don’t want to change my perception of how I am going. My goal is to stay
eating healthy, drinking more water, exercising all at a rate that I can maintain. I want to keep this realistic and not set goals that I will fail at so that I can achieve what I aim for and build off that. Step by step :)

Week 4 update.

I can’t seem to have a good week of both exercise and eating – this week the amount of exercise I did was fantastic…but I feel like I let myself down in the eating stakes. I did go away for the weekend, which didn’t help…

I’ll start with exercise as I am really proud of what I achieved. Of the last 7 days, I exercised on 4 of them. I did the hypoxi trial which was a surprisingly full on workout (my full review of it is in the free samples thread but if you can’t find it I’ll repost it here). I did situps on 3 days, on 2 days walked for 2 hours and on the other 3 days walked for a t least an hour. So really happy with that. My aims for week 5 are to do situps everyday, and now addwork up to 3 × 1 minute planks (sometiems called the bridge – before i fell pregnant I used to be able to do it for 3 minutes but my poor little abs can barely last 30 seconds). I think that part of my unhappiness with my stomach area is not actually excess fat but more the fact that I have lost abdominal tone since having a baby. I think I prob only have slightly more abdo fat that i did pre pregnancy but its more that i let it all hang out. Another thing that I am going to try and be conscious of is holding my abs taught and not letting them sag out.

Now to eating. I ate really well in the elad up to my weekend away, I adhered to the diabtic diet, only drank water, didnt snack…but then I went away. I didnt snack too much which is good, but I drank a lot of flavoured drink (soft drink, juice, chai lattes) which are just empty calories. Also, as were eating out for every meal I was eating a lot bigger potion sizes than I usually do, and I allowed myself to slip into the mentality that I’m on holidays so I can eat what I want. Obviously I wasnt going to be completely strict whilst away but I should have been controlled for 2 meals and then relaxed for the third.

One thing that I commented on in my earlier progress reports was that I was not going to weigh myself as I thought that what the scales said was irrelevant. Well, for the hypoxi trial I had to be weighed and I was shocked to find out that I was 66kgs. I had thought that I was 64kg which I was happyish with though I think that my ideal weight is about 60-62kgs. It really made me realise that I had let myself go a bit and I probably was in a bit of denial about my slowly gaining weight. I have been using the excuse that I had a baby, its ok to gain weight…but that was just an excuse for me. I was 64kgs when i fell pregnant. Because of the strict diabetes diet I was on, I only put on 4kgs, then 2 weeks after the birth I was down to 60kgs as I lost all the fluid that had accumulated (plus got rid of 3.5kgs of baby growing inside me!). So, in all honesty I have no excuse for climbing up to 66kgs. I think I got into the mindset of being able to eat what i wanted whilst i was breast feeding and now need to be much more controlled. So I have decided that I am going to weigh myself weekly to make sure that I am making progress, that way if I am not making any progress I can reassess why this is happening – eg up the exercise I am doing or really watch what i am eating.

Week 4 for me:

I came back from Gold Coast eating whatever i want, especially the last 2 nights of the last week in Gold Coast, it seemed like i had overfilled myself with food. However, i had always justified it with the fact that i had been doing activities the whole day, and swimming as well helped me felt hungry all the time. I was still drinking lots of water there, occasional snacking on chocolate, with lots of fruits intake though i must admit i barely touched my veges when i was there. Came back with a 52-53 kgs in weight.

Now that i am back in Melbourne, just few days from controlled eating and making more conscious choices in food (frequent snacking on fruits) have made me gone back to 51 kgs, which i am very very happy about. I am planning to be losing that extra kilo to 50 kgs in order to reach my target, hopefully by next week, since i will be going overseas to visit my family for a bit. And i know it will be harder to do control eating back at home than here. But again, i am going to do what i’ve been doing while dieting and exercising, which is to eat whatever i want but in a controlled, small portions. Also, i’ve been following the 3-hour diet. So controlled small portions and the fact that i dont starve myself are important. I dont wanna deny myself any treat since i’d be over-indulging when i do have some treats.

Exercise wise, i have been doing lots of stretchings and walking at about 5 km/h. Yoga helps alot in firming my body. CArdio exercise such as skipping has helped me alot, because after that i did some weights to firm my back and my arms. I have also been on the wii fit and i think it does helps.

My goal for the next remaining weeks:
- lose another kilo
-firm my tummy, thighs and butt more
- continue following my 3-hour diet
-increase more of my fruits and veges intake whenever possible
-drink more juice and water
-exercise about 3-4 times a week
-still have my treats but no over-indulging

Well I’m down from 67.5 to 65.7 (weird….!) which is very exciting although I’m sure the weight loss will slow down now that I’ve lost 7.3 kgs. I did have quite an indulgent weekend so this week my aim is to continue on with my healthy eating and exercising however, I will be doing a half day session of excercise at the gym on Saturday morning. I’m so happy that I’m at the half way point and I’m hoping over the coming weeks I should be very close to my goal!

yay, back better, back on the treadmill and finally dropped to 63.4kgs. Didn’t think I’d ever get to that milestone…..now aiming for 62.4kgs or less.
Went to Harbour town today for some shopping, had to eat out. Wasn’t too bad, after I said, take off the butter, mayo and cheese.

Congrats to the spot winners for the fitness :)
So far i have been good and i am back to 51 kg. So i am now aiming for 50 kg. Very happy as it has taken me few months now to try to lose weight from 58 kgs, plus this 6-week challenge has helped me lose another 3-4 kgs. :).

Yesterday, for exercise, i did skipping non-stop for 5 minutes, did stomach crunches, lunges and some exercises on the medicine balls, plus dumbbell. They lasted only half an hour as i had to leave for work. But it was really worth it. I sweated and this morning waking up to sore muscles, which is a good sign right? But Naughty me yesterday didnt have enough water and it’s sooo hot in Melbourne, that i came home afterwork and had a nose bleed. Also this morning, woke up to having another nose bleed on the other nostril.I am alright though. it is a sign to drink heap of more water than i ave been!
