Im a little underweight. Would love to put on about 10 kilos if I could. Also eat more balanced, regular meals. Ive started my own vegie garden and I love it! Saves money, gets me outdoors, motivates me to maintain garden (which is reasonablly good exercise also!), eat fresh healthy food and I grew it myself! Its quite addictive when you see the results. Strongly recommend it to other beauties.
Need to work on a regular exercise routine, drink more water to start with.
I used to be so fit when I was younger. Would love to achieve this again. I remember having so much energy and feeling really strong. Wish there was a cream that could instantly give me that back!

Lol freaky, I agree, fitness would be so much easier if we could just use a cream! Sigh.
Yesterday I drank a good amount of water and exercised, planning to do the same today, so hopefully I can make a habit out of this. There have been so many times where I have started a health kick and not kept with it, so I want this time to be different! All this motivation from BH really helps I think :)

i’ve lost about 1 kg today :). Did an exercise, and have been having soup base for dinner instead of huge dinner filled with carbo. I am also having more fruits, and vegies. My breakkie is the banana and frozen berries smoothies. Hmmmmm…

Its so motivating to hear how everyone is going with their fitness goals.
And how am I going… hmmm… not so good this week.
My sit ups are going well, even tho its only been a little while, the top part of my tummy has begun to feel tight and it even hurts a little when I laugh! All a good sign!
My weakness is the sugar tho. I was aiming to cut out sugar but its too difficult to just stop cold turkey.
I find I eat from boredom also, and that sort of snacking is nearly always on something sweet.
Confession… I did have a very bad day yesterday where I ate 80% of a pack of tim tams. They are delicious and I was craving chocolate.
For feeling so bad I did twice the amount of crunches as usual.
Not sure if it did anything to help, but weighing myself this morning and I havent gained extra weight which is a blessing.
I am 23yrs, 5"5 and I currently weigh 63kg. I tend to fluctuate every couple of days down a couple of kilos but since my baby 63 seems to be the magic number.
Its only 8 kilos over my pre baby weight but I am comfortable.
I just want to feel healthier and tone my tummy and thighs some more.
A natural by-product of my fitness goals should be a few kilos of weight loss which would be wonderful!

So as a result of my major craving slip, hubby has agreed not to let me buy sweets. I can have fruit yoghurt and still have a sugar in my coffee which shuold help the cravings. And I can gradually cut down to no sugar.

Thats me to date…
xx Kristie

wow, everyone is going strong from the sounds of things here. Its great to see everyone with their own tailored plan to suit their goals, abilities, lifestyles etc. Great work! It’s always hard when you start but it gets easier and the best bit… You will see change. I love watching others get out there and go for it, I find it inspiring to help me stick to my goals and a great motivator and support. Thats where this type of thread is super to help support one another along our journeys!

My goals:
1. Is to lose 5-10kg, realistically anything up to 5kg in 6 weeks would impress me and be a more realistic goal but I hope to continue my health and fitness changes long term as a lifestyle so eventually I aim to lose 10kg.
2. Tone up all over especially my tummy!
3. Gain better cardio health.
4. Ditch junkfood! Adopt a healthier eating pattern again and revamp my eating habits.
5. Drink more water.

I want to do this to feel better physically and mentally, it’s a great way to be sure I’m giving myself a greater health advantage to before I have surgery later this year, gain greater overall health and fitness and boost my energy levels and self esteem.

How to do this…
week 1: I am already drinking much more water through out the days, have ditched the sweet snacks for fruit and purchased more fresh produce to create my meals from instead of fast foods, sauces, pre-packaged etc. by surrounding myself with healthier choices I am already eating better. I am watching my portion control and though being vegetarian people think everything we eat is healthy I am making sure to choose the healthier options as much vegetarian options are still high in fats.

I have started stretching and basic pilates/yoga at home again and my next aim is to keep up with the water and healthy eating plan and incorporate more exercise into my regime. A 20min (minimum) cycle every day is my next step and to add some swiss ball moves. So just got to stay focused now and work on the exercise side of things while working within my health restraints. I already feel better just from increasing my water intake its amazing the difference it makes!

Hey beauties, just giving u an update to my progress so far.
I am not obese or overweight. But i would love to have trimmer and sexier body. Because i realise compared to how i was (58 kgs), I am definitely so much happier now than i used to be. My self-esteem has also lifted up more, and i am more confident and happy seeing myself fitting into old clothes.

At the start of the fitness challenge, I was 53.5 kgs. After 2 days of sticking to my goals above, i lost about 0.8 kg, to 52.7 kgs. I had tried to have small meals in a day instead of large 3 meals, so i presume that help with my goals, as well as walking to work (good 15-20 minutes walk) too every morning.I stretches alot when im at home too! whether watching tv or standing up doing nothing. LOL

Yesterday i had….
Breakfast (7.30 am): Banana and Berries smoothies, 1 slice of wholegrain toast with ham and cheese
(FUNNY STORY: I haven’t had coffee for about 3 months or so now, and i had decided i was gonna have 1 yesterday. So i made 1 and contemplated with having half a teaspoon of sugar in it. So i thought, im gonna be fine and just cheat for abit. So i made it and took it to work with me. In the train, i imagined and looked forward how the taste of the coffee was going to be. So i had a sip, and i gagged. Turned out, i had put half a teaspoon of salt into my coffee. Looks like my conscience played pranks on me! LMAO.)
Snack (11 am): 1 slice of wholegrain bread with crunchy peanut butter
Lunch (1-1.30 pm): 5 tablespoon of mango yoghurt with slices of strawberries and blueberries and Leftover soup (bok choy, carrots, vermicelli, rice, fishballs) from dinner the night before. Top it off with 1 small block of dark chocolate.
Snack(3.30-4 pm): Finish the remaining of my yoghurt
Snack (6.30ish pm): Had a handful of peanuts and 2 milk biscuits
Dinner (8 pm): Rice, chicken cooked in olives and mushroom in diluted tomato paste sauce, vege: 2 small corns
Snack: (10.30 pm): Half of mango

Today i weighed myself and i am now 52.2 kgs. I’ve lost about 0.5 kgs and am happy, as my target is to be 50 kg. I’d be updating you on my further progress. Ciao for now

Princess pink. I use frozen blueberries and frozen raspberries as the real natural ones wont keep too long and they are sooo expensive too! So what i do is 1 ripe banana, 1 cup of skimmed milk, 1/2 a cup of bluberries and 1/2 a cup of rasperries. Put all of them into the blender and voila! Thats ur smoothies. Its really good for brekkie cos it really fills you up. I had a toast too cos i cant really have sweet things by itself for breakkie. But mmmm… its really good!

Good results viva! I have been 58kg and lacked so much confidence but i now weigh 53.4kg and it’s amazing what a difference that can make. I am only 155cm so i would like to lose another maybe 4-5kg and really just tone up. That smoothie sounds great, i think i will have one for brekkie tomorrow :-)

Well my story is a little different to all the other girls…as i have actually just lost 9.2kgs over the past 5 weeks and i am still going! My weight loss has been mainly centred around healthy eating habits so Now it is down to fitness and toning…i still can’t run for more then a minute without panting and struggling to breath!
So my goal is to increase the time i run for per set… at the moment it is one minute (awful i know!!!)
I also plan to do a 3 minute ab work out each day to firm up my belly!

here is hoping!!

GREAT!!! I have been contemplating (and verbally planning), since the beginning of the year, to get back into doing SOMETHING which resembles any form of mild exercise.
I have even planned afternoon walks with my children (while they ride) and they eagerly ask me every day when we are going to begin.
But alas, I’m still yet to begin. i even drive to the corner shop which is less than a 5min walk (30sec drive)
This is exactly what I need to give me the kick up the bottom and a reason to actually do something about it.
Everybody would actually like to argue with me that I have nothing to achieve in regards to my body. I beg to differ.
Although I am a perfect weight and size and look great in clothes, I myself know how much muscle tone I have let slip away.
A little walk each day is all my muscle memory needs to whip back.

Viva I like your smoothie idea, I use the frozen berries most often too they are great alone as a desert too! I treated myself today and bought some fresh blueberries yummo :) I have been doing well but caved tonight :( had a big day physically and emotionally and after dinner while watching tv shared a block of cadburys! Ditching junkfood is harder for me than my other goals at the moment but I figure I fell off the wagon once, now I need to step up and keep pushing forward.
Everyone seem to be doing really well, melt you are well on the way to your goal! True Melbourne cup might be tempting but I think it’s the bubbly and vino I need to watch, alcohol has a few kjs that are hidden in them. Keep it going beauties!

After my first baby(now 3) i returned to my pre-pregnancy weight of 60kgs by doing absolutely nothing, i ate terribly and didnt exercise, now 10 months after baby #2 and gaining an extra 30kgs while pregnant i have come down to 69kgs roughly and rather wobbly hips bum and tum so in the next 6 weeks i plan to loose the extra 9 kgs and tone my problem areas. Im going to eat better- more fresh fruit and veg, wholemeal pastas and bread (where i can, my partner hates the stuff so when money is tight we usually opt for white) drink less coffee cut out sugar and chocolate as much as i can – which is hard as i am addicted and i want to excercise more – i have a few work out dvds including zumba and michelle bridges tight toned and terrific- so ill aim for one dvd day which works out to be about half hour ,40 mins each but this will probably be broken into segments. walking with the kids when its not too hot as we have alot of snakes out my way (and im terrified) and sit ups ill aim for 50+ each day! so why am i still sitting on the computer? off to start feeling better about myself and getting healthier!

Thanks Everyone, just a reminder though the smoothies can be a little too thick! So put more milk if u need to. :)
Goddessmagick, dont worry, i’ve slipped up too. I had one of the Subway choc chip cookies and i admit several of those shapes lil savoury biscuits as a small treat since i’ve been good these days. I also had a pie and several chips for dinner, with homemade lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers salad. But then again, as Andrew has said that its all abt balance, 80%, 20%. So dont feel guilty:). I think as long as u exercise and have a healthy balance diet, we will be good :).

Hahahha fashionist8p, its ok not to do full on exercise sometimes. When i cant squeeze any exercise after work, i squeeze in 20-30 mins of power walk to work. When i sweat, i feel good abt myself. I was naughty today and had custard bun btw. LOL. But worked it out with 10-min intense boxing. :)

Join us in our six-week health and fitness challenge and you could win one of two free Booty Camp fitness courses! Simply let us know your goal (it can be anything from eating healthier, exercising regularly or losing weight – however big or small your goal we’re here for you!), Then, keep us updated throughout the six weeks with your progress. We’ll be awarding spot prizes throughout the challenge, and the Booty Camp prize at the end of the six weeks.

Be sure to share your individual goals for the six weeks here, and then email any photos and blurbs regarding your progress to me at olivia@beautyheaven.com.au

What is your individual health and fitness goal and how do you plan on achieving it?

I want to be less blob shaped to more babe shaped. I have put on the pud lately so need to lose at least 5kg.

I have started a low carb diet this morning with a banana and cereal. I have memberships to a gym and swimming pool but have been slack- I will go at least 4 times week.

Watch this space!

Ok my progress, 1 week in:

My main aim of this health and fitness challenge was to go back on the low GI diabetic diet, and become more aware of what and how much I am eating, to ensure that we always have plenty of fresh fruit and veges in the house so when I am hungry I don’t resort to eating crap, and to walk at least 30 minutes, 3 times a week. I am proud to say that I managed to stick to the diet during the week but unfortunately was a little undisciplined on the weekend, so that is something I need to be aware of in the following weeks. I am especially proud that on Wed I knew I was going out for dessert with my sister so I altered my diet accordingly during the day to accomodate that.

One thing that I need to be more conscious of in the coming weeks (and probably for the next 20 years!) is that I am finding myself finishing my sons food ie not his mush but if he leaves a toast finger or a piece of chicken I’ll pop it in my mouth rather than throw it away. At this stage it is only small quantities of food but I am not counting these foods towards my carb allowance for the day (on the low GI diabetic diet you are allowed 12 serves of carbs a day). This means that I am not being aware of everything I am eating and I am eating for the sake of not wasting, rather than for hunger.

Another thing that I would like to cut out is consuming empty kilojules from drinks. My aim is to only drink water and milk, with an allowance of a softdrink after baseball on the weekend.

In regards to my exercise I aims, I more than met them. I walked at least 30 minutes every, apart from monday, and on wed and thurs went for a 120 and 90 minute walk respectively. I have not noticed any change phsyically so I think I may need to step up my aims to include situps.

I have decided not to weigh myself during this challenge, which does make quantifying my progress difficult. I have come to the realisation that, for me anyway, what the scales tell me is not a reflection of whats happening with my body. I am exactly the same weight as before I fell pregnant last year, yet my body is completely different. During pregnancy I only put on 4kg yet my body was massively different. I am 10kgs heavier than I was when I was 18 but I still wear the same sized jeans (though they are much tighter these days!). So rather than quantify my progress on the scales, I am going to use the way my clothes fit as guide to my progress. So, one week in, my clothes still feel the same. My jeans are still a bit too tight and I have a muffin top hanging over them – my aim is for this to be reduced and my jeans to not be as snug.

So, my aims for week 2 – to maintain the diabetic diet but to be completely aware of what I eat – ie if I do finish my sons food, then that counts as one or part of one of my snacks. I want to be as disciplined with the diet on the weekends as I am during the week, and to cut out all flavoured drinks other than water and milk (and 1 softdrink a week). In regards to exercise I now think that it is realistic to go for a walk of at least 30 minutes every day of the week. I would also like to do 20 situps a day – its only a small number but it is a realistic number that I can fit in, and hopefully in coming weeks I can improve on this. When it comes to exercise, I think that I don’t have time for it having a young baby to look after and a ton of housework to do, but if I can slowly incorportate small amounts here and there into my day, I will gradually be able to change my mindset and make more time for exercise.
