Hi guys, I’ve been wanting to look into supplements for PMS. I’d love to know if any of you ladies take them, if they work, and what brands you like? I’ve been recommended PMS Balance from Herbs of Gold. After almost 20 years of dealing with God-awful cramps and a list of issues with my period I’m thinking this might be the way to go. Thanks. :) |

I am exactly the same and would like to start taking something to assist at least with my being a complete moody B***H!! Have heard from a girlfriend who takes Evening Primrose Oil and she says it has helped her alot with her moods. |

I don’t really get PMS, thank goodness but I do get terrible cramping and heavy periods. I take a birth control pill to help with this. But if you’re looking into supplements, may I suggest Vitex? It’s only for those not on the Pill as it naturally regulates hormones. You need to look for a straight-up plain Vitex supplement, not a combined one as it won’t have the quantity you need for it to work effectively. I took one by Fusion Health: There’s some good general info here: I took Vitex for while when I was off the Pill and did find it helpful. I tried Evening Primrose Oil but it just caused spotting for me. |

I’ve heard and tried evening primrose with some results. For me I notice a difference if I am drinking tea and coffee or not.If I stop drinking these then my periods are better in that I feel less bloated and yucky… |

Thanks for the input so far ladies – hopefully this also helps out a few of you here. :) Like many other women, I lucked out when it came to periods. Not only all the horrid physical symptoms, but the mood swings that come with it (I remember the time I once cried when my favourite footy team lost just a regular match. Luckily I was home!) @Nyxen – even though they say you should eliminate it from your diet around that time of month, some chocolate goes a long way! ;) @SoMuchPretty, thanks for the link! |

Primrose oil capsules are meant to lighten PMS, not the cramps though. |

chocolate and ice cream. I turn into a nightmare and I know I do, but I just can’t help it, so I just try not schedule any catchups during that time :D |

I second the chocolate and ice cream! I have also heard to take magnesium tablets during that time of the month, which I do. I don’t drink fizzy drinks much but I generally avoid them even more (contributes to the bloating etc), and I also sleep with a hot pack on if it’s a bit painful. |

Magnesium is great for cramps, spasms and migraines as it is a muscle relaxant. |
