Trials and tribulations

It’s one thing for me to sit here and blog about the great new products that have crossed my desk, but lets face it, when you’re doing your pre-purchase research, you want to hear reviews from more than one person, right?
Which is exactly why I love the concept of trial teams (great idea whoever at bh first thought of that!).
Not only do they mean that people other than the beauty editors of the industry get to trial the latest products, but they also reflect the reviews and experiences of a variety of women – allowing you to make a more educated decision before buying.
Here’s what you guys are saying about a few of the products being trialed at the moment:
Listerine® Whitening®
“This mouthwash leaves my mouth feeling clean and fresh, thought with a little bit of an aftertaste that I recognised as the same as other teeth whitening products I have used (both at home gels and one I had in the dentist a few years ago). I will definitely keep using this, as my teeth look brighter and I like that it hardens enamel - I know that the more intense teeth whitening products and procedures I have used in the past can soften tooth enamel, so I guess using this every day will save stains building up and having to bring in the big guns which could do more harm than good. I think it would also be good for people who invest in teeth whitening to keep them white and stop stains building up. Don't be turned off by the taste and bubbling (I noticed some of the other testers were), it is the same effect that all teeth whitening products have, it's just the ingredient they all use.” – BridgetM
Clinique Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Powder
“I normally get red cheeks and a red nose from blushing, working at out the gym, and when it is humid. So I was very fortunate to receive the TT for this product.
I found this powder to be a great base, on top of my primer and underneath my foundation. The product comes with a great little brush. The brush is soft and applies the powder on evenly. The powder is silky, smooth and does not itch my skin which is a bonus as sometimes my skin can react to certain powders.
I find the powder sets really well and does not give a yellowish hue rather it blends well with my foundation and actually covering my red skin.
I have oily skin and I find this product very useful to touch up through out the day. The powder may seem expensive, but it comes in a very decent size. However I think a travel size would be great as I have so many things in my bag hehe.” – Yvette Rose
Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power-Clear Scrub
“I have been using this product in conjunction with the same face wash and have found that my skin has been in much better condition than in the past. I love that this scrub is not harsh or dying on my skin however I would like if there was a bit more scrub in the solution. Overall my skin looked better and any imperfections healed faster while using this product and at the price I will be buying this again!” – itseternity

Do you do pre-purchase research or are you more of an impulse buyer?

I research a lot - the amount I research is directly proportional to the cost of the product!! I have a limited budget so have to be sure that what I spend on is guaranteed good.

I do pre-purchase research, especially as beauty items can be expensive so I want to know that I'm spending my money wisely. It is also difficult to determine, which products will suit your skin and hair so hearing from other women with a similar hair and skin type is a BIG help in finding the right products for me. Thanks, BH and Beauties for allowing me to access and read such informative reviews about so many different beauty buys. : )

I usually research, but I'm prone to making rash decisions around a bargain. E-bay is something I should be kept far far away from... And yet I'm surfing it right now...
I'd like to try that new Listerine stuff too actually, hmm.

I used to just impulse buy, or buy what I thought suited my skin and hair, but now I've discovered BH I can make more educated purchases and not waste my time and money on products that might not work for me! Thanks BH :) XOXO

I always find out who has trialed a product, read magazines, go in store and try products. And well, BH thank you for such valuable information, you are the best source of information as you allow us to have the opportunity to try products with competitions and with trial team members opinions. Why try a product that really has no following?

I definitely read reviews from bh before I purchase a product and look up info about it online, to see if it's right for me, as it's very hard to return makeup/beauty/skincare products if I find out later on that they're not right for me.

I like to research before I buy but also buy on impulse if I see something that I think would be great and its at a good price and is something I need. Love coming to bh and reading reviews to see what others think of products and to keep up with whats new! Do admit that often its a trial of a product that really convinces me to buy it after using it if I have good results with it.

I am a TOTAL impulse buyer. If I'm sitting here watching TV and someone is selling something that looks even vaguely interesting, I am all over it like a cheap suit!

I reasearch heaps! Thanks to BH and of course with help from other sites I can get the gist of the products before I can make my final decision! Problem is I'm a tight budget! And the products I'm eyeing for are way over!

I used to be more impulsive/buy what was on my list after seeing an advert in a magazine but since I've been a member of Beautyheaven I love researching first here before I buy anything.

I can be a bit impulsive but I try and do my research first and if it's an expensive item I try to get a sample to test before handing over my hard-earned cash.

Definitely research before I buy. Trying out samples as that is the best way to determine if it suits me or not but I like reading reviews on BH as well. One of the reasons why I love you guys!!!

It depends on the price of the product. If it's a cheapie, I tend to buy on the spot, but if it's more exxy, I'll research before spending big bucks.

I do a bit of both, most of my impulse buys are normally cheap products but if I am forking out more than I can probably afford I want to research to know what I am getting myself into, lol.

I always research for beauty products that I would consider expensive, that's how I stumbled across BH. BH has a library of valuable information for anyone wanting to get REAL feedback on products, not just the advertised lines that the company's want you to read. I do impluse buy if I'm looking for a present or gift.
