Art

Masterpiece make-up

They say that life imitates art but it seems more and more, it’s beauty doing the mimicking with lots of recent releases from the beauty world sporting fine art.

Sarah Jessica Parker

The Lovely Collection – Dawn, Endless and Twilight – the new fragrances by Sarah Jessica Parker, are all adorned with a watercolour image by New York artist Sarah Singh. The beautiful bottles – a subtle sky blue, pale pink and soft champagne respectively – all feature an original floral watercolour design by Singh, in a shade slighter darker than the glass.

Dr. LeWinn’s

Dr. LeWinn’s has released three beautiful limited-edition sets in time for Mother’s Day. All gift sets feature the work of Norwegian artist Maicen Holta Madsen. I love, love, love the golden illustrations on the Beautifully Renewed Skin Gift Set, and lucky for me it contains my favourite Dr. LeWinn’s product, Firming Eye Cream – this gel formulation is my saving grace. It smoothes lines, reduces puffiness and get this, it contains mica, a light deflector that will revamp tired eyes in no time. But back to the art, Madsen was chosen thanks to her unique ability to capture the essence of mother/child relationships through illustration. Just 25, Madsen is already an expert in creating female figures whom she bases on her students at the small primary school where she teaches. She describes the Dr. LeWinn's collaboration as her greatest artistic achievement to date, saying “it has always been a dream of mine to be involved in such a creative campaign.”

Bloom

Natalie Bloom’s recent book release, Beauty in Bloom, featured beautifully striking illustrations from young Melbourne artist Rebecca Wetzler. But she's not the only artist Bloom has worked with. Neryl Walker created the original Miss Bloom, the playful yet sophisticated illustration that adorns earlier releases and the website. Interesting fact: Bloom herself worked briefly as a graphic designer before setting up shop (or Bloom Pty. Ltd. as it’s more commonly known) in 1993. Fusing glamour with goodness, have you tried Bloom's latest offering, Mineral Plus Lip Butters? Each are named after a song by an artist of the music variety.

Talking of art, what’s your favourite piece of face paint (a.k.a. make-up) at the mo?

I love art and I really get where you are coming from with regards to the beautyworld mimicking art. The bottles of some perfumes are absolutely beautiful these days - just the bottle can invoke emotions, even before you get to the perfume inside. I love the way perfume bottles correlate with the type of scent they hold within. The SJP bottles are gorgeous.

As far as arty 'makeup' - I have a little Clinique eyeshadow that swings out another little eyeshadow from underneath - it's so well-designed that it could easily be a little sculpture in action. By the way, I love the matte eyeshadow it holds too! Just the right colour combination for a fast and pretty eye creation.

Wow- yes the perfume bottle sounds so pretty- I'll have to go see it. I love walking through a perfume store looking at all the pretty bottles.
I think how a product looks definetly influences whether or not people will buy it- so makeup art is great :)

I agree with Skitzkilly. Gold really makes my light coloured eyes stand out too. I love the Bloom Eye Paint in Champagne. Gives a gorgeous golden shimmery finish and highlights the eyes. And I gotta get me some of that Dr Lewinn's Firming Eye Cream - sounds fantastic! Thank you Sarah! (-:

The Natalie Bloom book is one of 6 make-up books I would love and am interested in buying. The new Sarah Jessica Parker fragrances........the name, the bottles, the scent are visually stunning and smell gorgeous taboot.
I like to mix up my look and play around with my make-up and create a different look for each mood. I would have a field day if I could buy lots of make-up and cosmetics. My dream one day is to get a basket full of make-up for my birthday or Christmas or just because which funnily enough I already told hubby this again that I would like this for my birthday in which he replied " Your birthday and Christmas is in December " needless to say I didn't see his point. I would also love to have a birthday party and be able to give a basket full of make-up to my friends so we could all enjoy my birthday. One day, one day........
I hope this comment finds everbody well and wish you all a lovely weekend.
Love Flutter.
