A natter with Nicky Buckley

Best known for her role as co-host on Sale of the Century, Nicky Buckley has now put her gorgeous, enviably-flawless face to cosmetics brand, Alpha-H. We pin her down for a quick chat on all things beauty…

What's the most interesting or unique beauty product you own?

The Alpha-H Liquid Gold Intesive Night Repair Serum. I am constantly amazed at the results I get when I wake up in the morning after a night of uninterrupted firming and revitalising. This really is a unique product, I can relate to all the hype – I love it.

What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever been taught?

To all the young girls out there listen up, protect your skin from the sun, I know it doesn’t make much sense now but when you hit your 40’s the damage really starts to show! 40 might feel like years away, but it creeps up real quick and you’ll wish you’d listened.

What’s your worst-ever beauty blunder?

Having acrylic nails on for too long and my nails started to rot underneath, so I had to remove the acrylics and wait for my nails to grow back healthy.

Who's your beauty icon?

I think Charlise Theron is classically beautiful, but I also wholly admire Susan Sarandon, she always looks gorgeous and happy and has seemingly aged completely naturally.

What’s on your bedside table?

Oh god, what isn’t! Let’s see - there’s at least three novels, four Italian learning books, various magazines, letters and pictures from my boys, hand cream, ear plugs, and an eye mask.

What’s the last beauty item you bought?

An eye shadow from Bobbi Brown, it’s a lovely forest-green colour that works well with my eyes.

What’s the most interesting place you’ve travelled to and why?

Italy, I am literally blown away by its history, by its architecture, by its language and its people. I’m going back this year and I can’t wait.

What must-have beauty product would you not leave home without?

Sunscreen. Alpha-H has two fabulous options that have become my staple. The Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF 30+, which is a lovely light moisturiser with the sunblock , great for if you’re not going to be outdoors too much, and then the Ultra Protector Daily Moisturiser with SPF30+, which is a little thicker to cover you when you are outdoors in the elements.

If you were shipwrecked on a desert island what three beauty products would you want with you?

Most definitely the Alpha-H Ultra Protector Daily Moisturiser with SPF 30+, a good wide brimmed sun hat, and Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant for the lips, also good for cuts and abrasions if I slip on the rocks whilst fishing for dinner on my deserted island.

If you weren't in the media you'd be...?

I’d maybe be running a small hobby farm where I was self-sufficient on the land but still earning an income from it.
