Aussie darling: Alyssa-Jane Cook

You may remember her as Lisa Bennett on Aussie soap E-street, but Cook is still no stranger to television. She’s had regular appearances on shows like Home & Away, Home Life Style and has even been up against hard man Stan Zemanek on Beauty and the Beast.
Cook is now the face of weight-loss company Bodytrim, and is an advocate for healthy living.. We were lucky enough to have a chinwag with the Aussie soap star to find out about her biggest beauty blunders, her unusual beauty tips and what she’d be doing if she weren’t gracing our screens…
So Alyssa, what’s the most interesting or unique beauty product you own?
AJC: I have a bit of a multi-tasking product that I cannot live without. It’s called Egyptian Magic and it’s made from natural beeswaxes. It’s fabulous for extreme dry skin, can be used as a lip balm and as a treatment for sunburn.
The best beauty tip you’ve ever heard is…?
AJC: Getting pregnant is great for your complexion and hair growth! (Although not so good for the waistline!)
Name your worst-ever beauty blunder
AJC: Not listening to my mother as a teen when she used to ask ‘Alyssa, have you got sunscreen on?’ I regret that one!
Who’s your beauty icon and why?
AJC: Cate Blanchett for many reasons. She embodies beautiful, natural beauty and relates to everyone. She looks like she wore sunscreen as a kid, or just has really, really good genes. She exudes that natural glamour that’s so Australian.
What’s on your bedside table?
AJC: A lamp, the book ‘The Secret’ for the positive affirmation it brings. A glass of old water, Blistex and a note from my daughter.
What’s the last beauty item you bought?
AJC: The Chanel ‘touche’ concealer on my recent trip to Paris and Italy – I got it for 50 per cent off the retail price – such a good bargain.
What’s the most interesting place you’ve travelled to?
AJC: Positano, Italy. I love that it’s so tricky to get there – it’s a glamorous, stunning and absolutely beautiful place – like a little treasure in the middle of nowhere.
What must-have beauty product would you not leave home without?
AJC: My toothbrush, toothpaste and fresh knickers – you never know what the day will bring! To me, it’s okay to look bad as long as you smell great.
If you were shipwrecked on a desert island what three beauty products would you want with you?
AJC: I’d definitely want tweezers, sunscreen and moisture for all over the face and body – if I could be cheeky I’d sneak in a hat too!
If you weren’t doing this job you’d be…?
AJC: If I could have my time again I’d love to be an architect/actor. If I could incorporate architecture into my presenting/acting work, then that would be so ideal. I do love being in front of the camera though, so I’d have to keep that up!

I agree with her comment It's okay to look bad as long as you smell great. Nothing is more offensive than bad hygiene.

Great interview, I remember watching her on Estreet as a kid I always thought she had a natural beauty about her. Love her honest answers, very to the point and practical and that I can identify with. Thanks bh and Alyssa for sharing your thoughts :)

I loved E Street and Alyssa (as Lisa) and Wheels were a few of my favourite characters. I've recently seen Alyssa help promoting Body Trim. I've heard many great things about Egyptian Magic. It's adored by many celebs. Great interview :)

I remember AJC in E-street but then she disappeared for a while. It is great that she has made a comeback with her weightloss and as a spokesperson for Bodytrim.
