Six style and beauty lessons to learn from Gucci
I’m a sucker for Fashion Week, beauties. When it struts in on its unfairly long legs every March and September the beauty journalist in me gets VERY excited. Why? Because this is the place where all trends are born. The hair, the make-up, the fashion – everything you’ll be wearing next season originates here.
And that’s precisely why we’re nabbing style tips and tricks from the glorious Gucci S/S 2013 runway show now so you’re ridiculously ahead of the on-trend crowd come summer…
STYLE LESSONS TO LEARN FROM GUCCI
#1: middle parts should definitely be embraced this season
Yes, they may not suit everyone, and yes, they can make your nose look a whole lot bigger than it is, but if a middle part works for you, be sure to wear it with pride during the warmer months. Whether your hair is down or up, a middle part should most certainly be involved.
#2: bright clothing hues look smashing with earthy, neutral make-up
See that hot pink frock? Did you notice that moody smoky eye and neutral lip its been paired with? These two work perfectly together because they both stand out in their own right. The dress is popping, and the eyes are defined, yet they don’t clash. Not at all. Smart one, Gucci.
#3: if you’re donning a high neckline, wear your hair up
If you don’t, your flowing hair will smother and drown out that stunning number you’ve probably spent a fortune on. Give your outfit the attention it deserves and put your hair up in a top knot to show off your neck and that spectacular high neckline…
#4: bright outfits look sensational with equally bright jewellery
Thought pairing your bold frock with loudly coloured accessories was a no-no? Think again. That striking pink beaded necklace and matching earrings are doing wonderful things for that delightful Gucci orange, white and raspberry patterned number.
#5: don’t be afraid to take your eye shadow outside the lines
Gone are the days where eye shadow belongs on the upper lid only. The reason why this Gucci smoky eye is so splendid is because the smudged hues are located below the lower lash line, too. This not only frames the eyes, but adds a little extra drama.
#6: opting for a sleek hairdo is a must-do
Getting out of the pool? Or maybe you’ve just been for a dip in the ocean? Or maybe, just maybe, you’re too lazy to blow-dry your strands for work? No sweat. This season’s sleek, wet-looking ‘do lend itself perfectly to a number of situations - so be sure to embrace it.
