Hey, it’s Blake ‘No Brows’ Lively
02 Feb 2012 16:52 PM | Posted by bh'sOlivia
Even style icons have their bad days. You may not think so, but it’s true. Look at Blake Lively for example. Normally swanning about with perfect hair and make-up, enjoying the triumph of being many a designer’s muse, we caught a shot of her that made many in the bh office gasp – with an added chest clutch to match.
“But… but – she’s got no brows!” one observant bh-er exclaimed. It’s true; this recent snap of Miss Lively does look as though there’s something missing indeed. At first I admit I couldn’t quite put my finger on it – but you just can’t stop staring once you figure out that her brows have been well, muted…
Why would someone do this you ask? Well, I don’t know exactly. Even though my beauty regime is chock full to the brim already, I made a vow to tend to my brows a long time ago and each morning I always allow time for a little brow maintenance – I just don’t feel finished without it. So, with that in mind, I thought it only fair to share my brow know-how with Blake (and all of you too so you don’t make the same mistake!).
Tip #1 - It looks as though you have foundation stuck in your brows there, Blake. After I’ve applied my foundation I always get a wet wipe and wipe across my brows, removing any foundation or powder that may have been caught in the hairs.
Tip #2 – If you don’t want to rock ultra-defined Camilla Belle brows that’s fine! Just opt for an untinted brow gel or a lighter brow powder that you can use to make them look natural. We love Prestige Cosmetics Brow Perfection Revitalising Clear Brow Gel and glo minerals Brow Powder Duos for this (two shades means you can create a more natural or a more structured look.)
Tip #3 – If you have brows that tend to look ‘messy’ or unstructured at times, opt for a brow product with a ‘spoolie’ on the end. A ‘spoolie’ is a mascara brush style of brush that is used to brush your brows into place before shading and setting them with a brow powder or gel. We love Benefit Instant Brow Pencil and Revlon ColorStay® Eyebrow Liner for fitting the bill.

awww, poor Blake!
My top tip for good brows is: if you can't do a good job yourself, go to a professional and then maintain them. When going to a professional, make sure to go to someone with good reviews.
I recently tried the Australis eyebrow kit (was a GWP, so not sure how much it is) and it's great, so check it out :)

I don't over pluck my eyebrows, I just pluck strays and shape them carefully if they need it again. I don't wax them. Also, i use a estee lauder eyebrow pencil in soft black to lightly fill in any tiny gaps. My eyebrows are black, so I use a soft black so it doesn't look obvious.

I use eye cream on my brow region just after I apply it to my eye area. It really helps stop that area from becoming dehydrated.

I think the best thing to do is get your brows done professionally. You can always tell who does and who does'nt.

I cannot think of any celebrity with funny eyebrows at the moment, I am sure there are some celebs though.
I just make sure I do not overpluck and that regrowth is plucked regularly.

I think the flash from the camera is making her brows disappear more than it really is.

Her brows don't look THAT bad, but that's the first time I've seen her looking less than perfect. She's usually spot-on with her make-up.

Ah I've only just started doing my eyebrows because I didn't think I had to. I watched a tutorial on how to do them and started. I wouldn't leave the house without them done now...

It could just be the lighting/flash which makes her eyebrows appear lighter than it is?

Oh dear Blake. I remember seeing old photos of her with brush hairs on her cheeks.

I can't say I was massively shocked i don't think Blake looks that bad, still looking gorgeous if you ask me even if her brows do look a tad odd.

I'm in the "why would someone do this?" camp - my brows are so blonde I look like an alien first thing in the morning, actually it's a bit scary. But a few short strokes of my brow pencil followed by a spoolie clean up, and I look like a human being again :-) Blake doesn't look that bad, but she doesn't look as good. I can't think of any celeb currently committing any brow faux pas, but I'll never forget Brooke Shields' caterpillars when she was younger...

A good set of well defined and shaped brows make a huge difference to the overall appearance of the face. I have a few different items I use, depending on my mood and make up look for the day, including a brush, clear gel, powders and a couple of pencils. I also tint them myself when I can be bothered:)

I'm so glad that even though I'm really blonde I still have dark eyebrows so I never have the disappearing brows! Though on the other hand I do get a lot of people asking me why I dye my hair blonde as they assume the difference in hair and eyebrow colour means I'm a fake blonde. I assure you though I'm a natural!

I love the tips re brow maintenance. I can. Ever help noticing when someone has bad brows. The thin painted lines are the worst tho!
