When I initially rocked up at bh HQ a few months back, one of the first pieces of advice I dished out revolved around bright lipstick and just how effective it is at making your face appear fresh and well-rested and just all-round glorious.  

Now, either Zooey Deschanel reads my posts on beautyheaven (I wish!) or she’s insanely smart, because the stunning image you see of her above proves she’s well-versed in the powers of a bold lipstick. I mean, would you look at those peepers? They are popping in a very loud fashion.

Two more notable facts about this beautiful make-up look is that she’s not only lined her lids with black liquid eye liner to further enhance her bold blue eyes, she’s used a crème raspberry blush on the apples of her cheeks to complement her berry lips too. It’s divine, beauties, and a look you must slip into your beauty rotation, stat.

But just when you thought that was the only delight in this Zooey Deschanel look, we direct you to her nails, which feature a blend of different polish hues and drawn on music notes, too. Yes, music notes. HOW CUTE!

Now, we know we’d have to practise a handful of times with a nail art pen to, erm, nail those note designs, but what a quirky and cute way to jazz up a somewhat simple black and white outfit, right? If you blink you may miss them, but they’re bound to impress anyone who lays their eyes on them.

So, after having studied Zooey Deschanel in all her beauty goodness, please repeat after me:

“I will embrace bold lipstick and make my peepers pop and my skin glow in the process. I will also dabble in some nail art, be it nail stickers, nail pens or playing with different nail polish hues.”

Good one. My work here is now done (until I see another celebrity looking ah-may-zing and beg you to steal their look, that is).
