Bridal beauty: head-to-toe guide
You’ve got your dress sorted, your bridal-esque hairstyle nutted out and your cake was ordered months ago, but is your bridal beauty routine in check? Here, we give you a detailed rundown on what you should be doing when – and the beauty products you most certainly need – to ensure you’re looking your beautiful best when your wedding day finally arrives.
ONE MONTH TO GO: amp up your skin care routine.
This could include indulging in regular facials, as well as applying a brightening product like L'Oreal Paris Youth Code Luminosity Day Serum every morning and night to encourage even-toned, clear skin. Paying extra attention to your skin will ensure it is glowing and luminous when your Big Day rolls around.
THREE WEEKS TO GO: wear in your bridal shoes.
You’ll spend hours and hours on your feet on your wedding day, so once you’ve located your perfect pair of ivory heels – we’re currently coveting PeepToe’s Mrs Fairytale from their bridal collection – wear them in around your home. If you do, you’re bound to keep your feet happy all day long, which we all know is a beautiful thing.
TWO WEEKS TO GO: sort out your perfect fake tan.
There’s nothing worse than an orange, patchy bride, so do your research and test out your fake tan of choice. Work out which one works best for you and your budget, and then give it a whirl. Just remember to exfoliate properly beforehand for an even finish, and then book in for your ‘real’ tan one day before your actual wedding day.
ONE WEEK TO GO: brighten your teeth and nip any pimples in the bud.
Every bride wants bright white toothy pegs in her wedding pictures, but not everyone has the cash to splash on expensive whitening treatments. Using a product like Colgate MaxWhite ONE Ice seven days prior to your nuptials will ensure your teeth are shining brightly. Oh, and if you’ve got any pimples – big or small – setting up camp on your face, start healing them now with Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Seal-to-Clear Gel, which stops zit germs spreading while healing the area at the same time.
ONE DAY TO GO: get your nails done.
A bride certainly doesn’t want to worry about smudging her nails on her fresh white frock, so treat your fingers and toes to some lacquer love the day before. If you’re concerned about chipping, try one of the long lasting, super-shiny gel-like manicures and pedicures such as CND Shellac, OPI GelColor and Orly GelFX.
ON THE BIG DAY: pack a well-stocked clutch, and apply hard-working products.
Before kitting out your handbag with must-have emergency beauty products, apply a foolproof deodorant like Dove Clinical Protection Anti-Perspirant Deodorant. You’ll mostly likely be a little nervous, and this will keep sweat and not-so-delightful scents at bay. When it comes to make-up, a glowy appearance will keep you looking young and fresh, so opt for a luminous primer and then a skin brightening foundation like Estée Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup. Applying waterproof mascara and a dusting of translucent powder is also smart. And when it comes to your clutch, be sure to slip in some drinking straws (you don’t want to ruin your lippie, do you?), make-up wipes in case a touch of foundation lands on your gown, tissues to wipe up any inevitable tears and some painkillers should an unwanted headache strike.
