Travel Advice

Hi Ladies,

Has anyone travelled to Hong Kong??

I am going there in a few months on as part of a uni course. I wanted to take some snacks (nuts, muesli bars etc) in my checked luggage to save having to buy them over there and also I am not sure we would have much time or of the availability in HK. Are you allowed to bring food from Aus to HK??

This is my first time travelling and would love any advice you ladies have.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the advice ladies.
The main issues I had with the food situation was just that I tend to get a bit anxious at times and I dont always have the best relationship with food (not eating disorders or anything! I just get nervous and dont feel like I can eat) so I just thought having my own snacks that I am familiar with might help put my mind at ease.

I travel to Hong Kong regularly. Going in June again. Yay! 🙂 Yes, packaged snacks are fine. But unless you have special dietary needs, there are so many options and versions of snacks and every other foods there, which are usually also cheaper as well. I would suggest not bringing food if u can so you have more luggage space for shopping hauls 🙂

I recommend you try MUJI! Love their vege chips, especially pumpkin 🙂

Don’t bother with the snacks, unless you have a food allergy, special dietary requirements or are really picky with food. HK’s full of cheap & good eats, and like swoopingb says, it’s a good time to be adventurous.

It’s also a shopping paradise – your two main problems will be exceeding your credit limit & weight limit on the flight back!

I personally wouldn’t take the snacks.

I know there are lots of food stalls and places to get get food (like many places in asia) everywhere. Its your opportunity to try different things!

even just trying their packaged snack foods would be fun and interesting 😛

    Hi Fashionista

I have been to HK only when I was very little, and from what I remember, it was and is a fantastic place.

You’ll love the food, the busy lifestyle and the shopping.

Sorry, I’m not too much help to your question, but just wanted to wish you a fantastic and enjoyable experience in Hong Kong!!
    Have fun!!!

Hi Fashionista8P, yes it’s definitely fine. Most of the time the customs don’t really check individual passengers’ luggage, unless you look dodgy lol! They are nowhere near as strict as AU customs

PS. I grew up in HK 🙂
