1. SK-II
Facial Treatment Essence, from $95
This Japanese wonder buy boosts the skin's moisture content, providing
smoother texture and revitalising a dull-looking face. Its
Pitera-soaked powers are so popular that one bottle is sold somewhere
in the world every 28 seconds.
2. I
Nuovi Facescape, $45
Within the first two weeks of the I Nuovi store opening at Bondi
Junction, NSW, 70 per cent of all Facescapes in Malibu Barbie sold out.
The two-in-one colour pan highlights, bronzes and contours in one
sweep, all while light-diffusing properties minimise the appearance of
fine lines and imperfections.
3. Kylie
Minogue Darling, from $50
All hail Queen Kylie. Until Darling hit shelves around Christmas last
year, SJP's Lovely reigned supreme atop fragrance house Coty's stable
of celebrity fragrances. With Gwen Stefani's L and Kate Moss' signature
scent due for release later this year, let's see if Kylie's sequel,
Sweet Darling (due for release in October), will second her
success.
4. Creative Nail
Design SolarOil, from $13.95
At last count, a Solar Oil was being sold somewhere on the planet each
every three minutes. Here's why: This synergistic blend of oils is not
just great for nails; it can also be used on stretch marks, as a hair
treatment and to hydrate hands, elbows and knees. People love a
multi-tasker!
5. Jan
Marini Skin Research Age Intervention Eyelash Conditioner,
$275
With beauty addicts clamouring to get their hands on it, this new lash
enhancer is on backorder both in Australia and the US. Why all the
excitement? Incorporating recently developed protein technology, Age
Intervention Eyelash Enhancer is said to increase eyelash flexibility,
preventing breakage and allowing them to reach their full,
flutter-worthy potential.
6. Nivea
Visage Anti-Wrinkle Q10 Plus Day Care, $18.98
Nivea's Coenzyme Q10 formula was first launched in 1998 and it was an
instant hit with the world's time fighters. Almost 10 years on, this
anti-wrinkle day cream is still an essential - Globally, 48,000 are
sold every single day. That's one every two seconds!
7. ModelCo
Erase Those Fine Lines, $65
Basically, if it's from ModelCo, it's hot. Five years after it
revolutionised the way we self-tan, Tan Airbrush in a Can ($45) is the
most popular faux glow in Australia and when ModelCo made its debut in
NYC's Henri Bendel, the brand broke sales records within a week. But
when Elle got behind the launch of Erase Those Fine Lines, things went
from hot to smoking. The instant line-lifter sold out of both Henri
Bendel and Sephora in 24 hours!
8. Elizabeth
Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant, $34
It's an amazing lip balm. It's perfect for taming tearaway brows. Plus
it looks gorgeous smudged onto eyelids - with or without shadow. Oh,
and it's magic on dry skin, heels, elbows and cuticles too. So it's no
surprise one of theses little lifesavers is sold every 60 minutes in
Australia, is it?
9. Maybelline
New York Great Lash Mascara, $14.95
With possibly more beauty column inches than any other mascara ever,
Great Lash is one of the cult
buys of our age. One of these lash-fattening master-mascaras is sold
somewhere or other every 1.9 seconds.
